I throw my poppers on a spinny reel, 3in Storm Chug bug-baby bass, and does great ! Med action, keeps them pinned, high landing percentage? I fished cvo-angler in FLW and angler used bait caster and out fished me big time, I tried it but you know that’s a bad time to learn a new technique in a tournament, it felt really weird! My brother n law was a pro and he threw a Zarro Spook on a spinner reel and caught the haddis out of them! Old habits hard to correct! I’m 69 yrs old, my muscles are already trained! LOL I do throw a buzzbait on baitcaster tho’. Great teaching job Tyler as always! Would like you to come up for air once in a while tho, so I can catch up ! lMAO! Keep the faith brother! Man bro, just tell em the business. If you can't afford a nicer baitcaster for jerkbait, just save for a little longer and get a nice reel. It is very important to fishing effectively. Otherwise you'll end up frustrated with fishing jerkbaits cause they're so light. Just save a little longer and do it right from the beginning

I liked this video a lot, very informative. A tip I’d like to add is a slow gear ratio, like a 6:1 or a 7:1 at the very highest. Slack line is so important when throwing a jerk bait and with those ultra high speed reels, it’s too easy to mess up the action.

Jerk baits have always been just foreign language to me being on ponds with the HUGE exception being the rapala original floating minnow. But I'd love to learn more about a bunch that I've ended up collecting over the years. Slow sinking, sinking, suspending, floating, and then how does that affect the depth they say the bait reaches? Is a sinking jerkbait going to act almost similar to a lip less crankbait? It's confusing to me and just seems so much more intricate than, say, a crank bait labeled 3-5 feet.

Final update: this little reel is the little engine that could kzbin.infoUgkxSlytCJqozTF7EbdP4LWP-HUXf9WRDJ0e . It performed flawlessly and was easy to adjust drag in the moment while I was battling a 35lb bat ray behemoth. Mind you, this reel is spooled with only 25 lb braid and 25 mono topshot. It's paired with the kastking telescopic heavy power rod and the two work well together. This has now earned my respect and confidence when traveling and fishing. If you have ever hooked into large rays and sharks, you know they pull extremely hard and can run forever! This thing clamped down on the fish and was easy to adjust during the fight. It has a nice decently fast retrieve as well. Twice the fish went on mad runs and I was able to gain back line quickly to avoid spooling.

Watching people fish with life scope is so boring
@TylersReelFishing Жыл бұрын
Good thing I’ve got plenty of videos without it
@toddlester80633 жыл бұрын
I really hope you do not make the live scope part of your videos in a major way going forward. Fish with it if you like, that's fine. As a viewer though: 1) most of us don't have them, so any sort of instruction or fish catches on them is just showing us something we cannot repeat, and 2) it is VERY boring to watch someone fish while staring at their video game screen at the front of the boat.
@TylersReelFishing3 жыл бұрын
Hi Todd. Thank you for your comment voicing your concern. I have a few responses to what you said. 1. Catching fish on a jerkbait using Livescope in no way invalidates the tips that I gave on how to work the jerk bait. I am just using a tool to my disposal to help guide me in the right direction as to where to throw it and how to be most effective with it. Every single tip that I spoke on can be done, and often is done by me, without Livescope. 2. “Normal” fishing is never going away on my channel. Your concern that Livescope is gonna be instrumental in all of my videos is unfounded. Pond videos, kayak videos, and many boat videos, will not have me staring at my screen the whole time. 3. Livescope helps me catch more fish. The whole goal of my channel, as I state in every single video, is to help people catch more fish. I’m going to use every tool at my disposal to catch more fish 4. Ain’t no way that’s boring to watch, I’m sorry man. 5. I’m glad you’re here on the channel and I want you to stay. Never stop being you
@toddlester80633 жыл бұрын
@@TylersReelFishing I was just voicing a concern is all, I have no problem with you using it. Also I was just voicing a potential concern, not a problem I saw.. Let me give an example of the concern. Instead of saying "I found these fish on livescope and here's how I'm going to catch them" it would be better to tell us "here are the places to look and fish with this type of lure, etc". To be clear, I am not saying you did that or will do that, I just wanted to get out in front with my concern, thats all. Regarding boring, I guess that's just personal. I've found I don't enjoy watching an angler with their heads down at the screen. Sure, the fish catches are fun for sure. That's just my opinion tho. Don't worry, I'll always keep watching, you are one of my favs!
