I fish a super clear spring fed river, with a lot I mean a lot of eel grass. It’s incredibly pressured, fluorocarbon is a must. The water cools off like one or two degrees but other than that the water is 70-72 year round. I’m a artificial guy, and let me tell you. I only catch one to three when I go fishing, and their just one pounders. I saw a bunch of bait fish, decided to catch a couple and try live bait. Let me tell you I caught some 3/4lbs. It’s tough fishing year round.

I have zero tolerance for slow fishing even in the dead of winter! I have to cast and wind, it’s just my style! So, if I had to choose two lures for the coldest time of year it would be a Damiki Vault blade bait in gold and silver. When all else fails, drop shot, jerkbaits, ned rig, or dragging a swimbait… the blade will shine and put fish in the boat!

So, my question is whether drop shotting is an effective method from the bank and, is it effective in the Winter? I'm up in the Northeast (NJ) and the water is pretty cold.
