For these kinds of videos, you want to remove the blow by tube from the Air Filter box, it recycles air in the crankcase back into the carburetor. When the soap foamed up, it went through the blow by/breather back into the intake causing it to fail prematurely. Removing it from the air box would have made the engine run longer with the soap because there wouldn't be any of the test material getting into the intake. I hope this helps! Keep up the great work! *Edit* : It's the tube right above the primer that went into a hole in the air box!

miike.oosterhuis you can use atf as oil, it’s almost the same as 10w30, I was on a camping trip in my Rover, and popped an oil cooler line off, and only had atf with me, I was 40 miles in the woods, and it was all I had. I used it for the 5 hour drive/ crawl back through heavy off-roading, and no issues. After flushing it a few times, and a year/ 13,000 miles later, no issues.

Disconnect the crank case breather from the intake and just let it blow into the air. That’s how the soap got into the carb/ intake in the first place. And is where the oil is getting in there now because the engine has blow by after being run without oil. I use to do things like you. It’s fun lol

Change the oil again. There was some noise and the smoke was because the oil is too contaminated. Doing this than running it until operating temp will save the mower from further damage or technically you will be able to rule out the soap as being the reason for total failure during your next few experiments. Just an idea. Keep up the good work man!

If you used HE clothes soap it has antifoaming so does dishwasher detergent. It may have just worked. However you would still have to use concentrated as others have way to much water in it and would have boiled away faster.

The smoke is oil contamination when the seals get loose, the soap probably let some oil seep through. It usually happens when the engine overheats through excess use.

Change the oil again, now that it has been run again. There's undoubtedly some soap residue in the crank case ventilation line. You cleaned the carburetor, but you never cleaned the valve spring box, or the tube between it and the filter housing. New oil, just run it, it will clear itself out. Try to look underneath the deck, and see if there's a drain plug right next to the motor shaft. If so, you will have much less trouble with it, because there will be less residue when the oil is drained.

@thomasvlaskampiii68505 жыл бұрын
Push mowers generally don't have one. Especially nowadays when everything's made out of plastic and designed to last for maybe one season. Especially especially the Walmart special we see in this video series
@ixionn5634 жыл бұрын
@Aj James Yep, government screwing up everything thanks to Karen's with their dumb lawsuits. A drain plug falling out would have the same effect as running over a rock and the rock becoming a projectile, you shouldn't be running a lawn mower within close proximity of anyone. I think the main reason nobody uses drain plugs on small engines anymore is cost cutting, cheaper to not have to make the drain plug and tap a hole for it, just make the consumer tip the engine over instead.
@jnlione14 жыл бұрын

Tyler most if not all of the time the oil plug is under the deck "under the red metal frame under the blade. If you turn it up on its side and look under the blade. You should see a square hole that you can put the end of a ratchet or extention in to get it off. Lawn mowers are ment to drain oil downwards so you do not tip the lawn mower & get oil into the combustion chamber causing it to smoke & or hydrolock if water some how got into the oil pan.

Hey bub, just wanted to give you some info, so we can see how long this thing will actually run with soap, the reason why the air box filled up with soap is because of the crank case breather, and that was that hose that just sticks into the back of the housing, the one that you said was easy to get in, try venting that outside of the air box and it shouldn't fill it with soap, just an FYI! There's a good reason oil containers don't have the spout in the center anymore. 99% of the people assume it's to pour with the spout on the bottom....WRONG ! It's designed to be used with the spout on TOP so there is no spillage at the beginning of the pour by giving it more of a horizontal angle at the beginning. After some oil is poured, then it doesn't matter if it's on the bottom or top. ALSO, a mower will smoke if you put too much oil in it until you burn off the excess amount.
