Hey Peanut, if you're reading this: you aren't dumb for staying friends with Walnut for so long. Toxic people have a cycle (which you described) and they have to lure people in by being "great" and "nice". After all, if they were mean to everyone they met, they wouldn't get any people to stick around long enough for them to be toxic to! And you thought of her as a friend, so you stayed with her. You absolutely can manage a dual gothic/sweet wardrobe! The trick is to find sweet outfits that pair with black underthings (shirts, tights, etc). Pastels definately work with black. It's too bad the term "Bittersweet" never took off for the dark sweet styled coords. Lol Also sometimes sweet prints come in the black colorway. Something to consider. Makes matching your coord so much easier when the colorway of your sweet matches your gothic.

13:43 when I first starting learning about Lolita, the reasoning people gave on why a lot of Lolita’s stick to one style or why you should stick to one style when you first start had a lot to do with expenses. Lolita can be very expensive and like you said you want to be able to use things for various coords. If you got a full coord for Sweet but then wanted to do Gothic, you’d have to build a whole new coord almost from scratch.

Not really, I have bought lucky packs from A.P. directly for $110 (salopette set). And A.P. jsk used off of Facebook groups and lacemarket for that price, you just have to stalk the sites, be willing to take a chance on getting stains out sometimes (as some listed stained are just the cringe worthy unwashed/not dry cleaned), etc.

It's not impossible, but you need a healthy dose of suspicion if a price sounds too good to be true. I once scored a pair of new Doc Martens for 10€ at a flea market. They are real. The person I bought them from simply couldn't walk in them at all and just wanted them gone.
