I shared with my close friends and family and they liked it. In fact they wanted more of it. So I made more and more and more lol Now I have over 100+ tracks. And I am really interested in getting in the radio, tv, sitcoms, commercial jingles, and music industry. This is so informative and I appreciate the guidance and lesson. Thanks Tynia, Your the best!

Thank you for this video. Was looking for ways to approach music supervisors as an independent songwriter with a demo. Think this is more for artists with music to pitch for TV or film, but still some great information. There are lots of sites talking about how to make better songs or the ins and outs of publishing, but I have found it hard to find details on the "grind," that is, how do you actually get your music heard and pitch it to the gatekeepers. You definitely went into some of that here.

@tyniacoats5 жыл бұрын
You got a commercial placement!? That's amazing! You can get royalties from your song placement in a commercial too, FYI. Is it going to be a national commercial, international commercial, online commercial?
@HippyJack5 жыл бұрын
@@tyniacoats Oh really? I had no idea. Well it's a comercial that will be aired online (youtube, instagram etc..) for the brand New Balance. Also I live in Europe and they are making it in LA. That's about as much as my knowledge goes!
@tyniacoats5 жыл бұрын
@@HippyJack You should definitely be able to get royalties from that then, on top of whatever fee they've paid you. Where do you live in Europe? Are you a member of BMI or ASCAP? Or are you a member of the copyright management organization in your own country?
@HippyJack5 жыл бұрын
@@tyniacoats Hey Tynia, I live in the Netherlands but I'm not a member of any copyright management organization. Till now I've just been selling beats through my website. I should probably look into registering right?
@tyniacoats5 жыл бұрын
@@HippyJack oh yes, you definitely should! Unless you want to miss out on royalties from your music and with a commercial placement from New Balance, I feel it's a must! The copyright management organization in the Netherlands is BUMA. They're pretty good & legit. They have an agreement with BMI & ASCAP too, so you can join BMI/ASCAP if you want & still get any royalties generated in your country.

I noticed this a long time ago probably around 2000.... HBO had and I still believe has some of the best music for their series. I don't know if it came from a library or if it was composed just for HBO. Netflix also has some good music. To me the music choices often mark a difference between content that's being churned out factory style and some of the best content out there... Like the Sopranos. My wife watches a lot of reality TV. House hunters international and stuff like that. Property brothers. Those shows have some of the worst music in them. But then again it's a perfect match for the shows. 🙂
