I've been on the OmniPod 5 for about 5 months now. I've had two visits with my endo and my A1C has improved both times. The first visit I went from 6.8 to 6.4, the second visit I went from the 6.4 down to 5.8. In the 30 years that I've been a type 1 I've never had an A1c under 6. It's for sure a game changer for me.

Just wanted to say thank you for your videos. My mom has had type 1 my whole life. As a kid I always helped her and would worry. I've never known a life without constant anxiety about it. I remember a dr telling her "just guess" for her insulin. My dad passed away this year so my mom moved in with my husband and I and we are now taking care of her. Its like that same extreme stress worrying like i did as a kid, but worse because she is having a hard time remebering/managing it on her own. Im not even 30 and I'm having extreme chest pains and panic attacks over it. She doesn't have insurance so trying to get insulin/the medical supplies has been a nightmare. From her sugar being 500 to 20 in one day. Its terrifying. With all the new medical advancements, I've been having a little bit of hope. I think this would be a life saver for her and we are considering paying out of pocket for it all. Just wanted to say thank you for reviews and opinions on these products. It has helped me so much with knowing there might be something that could help her better. I appreciate it

Hi Pixie Raye, Thank you for the encouragement, and I am sorry for your loss. Having the right information and people around you who care makes all the difference with this disease. After using this system for about a month and a half, 1 thing I would love is the option to tell the pump when low that you took Carbs for this condition, I would think this would be a no brainer option so it would truly know what is going on. Also a note pad on controller to keep track of events. Thanks for information.

Thank you for the very useful information. My doctor put a script through hoping there are no insurance problems. I currently have the t:slim X2 Insulin Pump. Unfortunately I can never control my sugar its very difficult - lots of highs and lows. I know part of it is my diet. My insurance did not provide coverage for diabetic nutritional training. I know staying away from sugar and simple carbs is the best thing. I need to actually do it! Hoping my numbers get better with the new Omnipod 5. Thanks again for this video. Received my kit last Monday. Unfortunately my father passed away that day so haven’t been able to use it yet. They called the next day to set up my training but obviously haven’t been able to do it yet. Hopefully this week. The omnipod 5 has done wonders for my nighttime readings, no more beeps waking me up. There is absolutely no negatives for me and I can always turn off automated mode to control everything myself, which I do before working out. I don't have to carry that bulky glucometer around. I still catch myself looking for it lol. My A1C before the omnipod 5 was 5.4 so my numbers were optimum but this gives me freedom and sleep. Maybe I got lucky but my first week wasn't bad at all and definitely worth it.

Hey @ZiggysPlace, that's fantastic. I had hoped that my experience would have been the same, but I think its almost better that it wasn't. Although I may have lost some hair in the process, I still feel its fun to learn something new and helpful for my viewers, and funner still to be able to turn that knowledge into a video that is informational and useful. I can relate to you when you said you still look for your glucometer. When I was first able to ditch the PDM I couldn't leave a room without feeling like I forgot something. Enjoy!

I’m experiencing some pinching and very slight pain at the site. I especially notice it during bolus. I did prep the site (back of left arm) before hand (shaving, alcohol etc). And thankfully the site seems to be working fine. Just curious if you or anyone else has experienced this and had any feedback. Thanks!

Hi Tom, thanks for the feedback. For reasons unknown to me, my left tricep is a sensitive spot. I found that if I pinch the skin softly, beforehand, it helps me to locate a nice soft site. In order to avoid pain and soreness, the softer the better. That's why the abdomen and lower back are the approved manufacturer locations.

100% agree with lack of compatibility. S22 Ultra is still not on their list. I overhead as well that the s21 what released some time this year. Goodness, they need to work faster. Also I feel I've had more steadiness with manual mode. Apparently it takes 2 to 3 months for it to really learn you. Then!, if they ever do release the app for my phone. The app will have to learn me again... (that part I'm not 100% sure) but that is frustrating lol.
@typ3me
@typ3me Жыл бұрын
LJ, Yes. Any time you switch the controller, from pdm to phone, or phone to phone, the entire learning process starts over. It then takes 48 hours for your pod to learn you. The pod internalized the info then sends it to the cloud for the next pod. Which is why the second pod works better. Yet, that process continues on forever. As conditions change, so does your pod along with you. Which can be good or frustrating. I am choosing to leave it in automated mode to test its effectiveness. So far, not to shabby.
