If you remove the corn and add maybe spinach lettuce or celery instead/ I am sure your fasting blood sugars would have gone lower to normal - try avoiding the corn at dinner and see the difference - quinoa salad with tomatoes onions peppers olives cucumbers celery lettuce spinach whatever else you can add as long as it’s not a high carb like corn! Try it and see ! 😊

What blew my blood sugar control was Thanksgiving dinner in 2010. As a vegan, there wasn’t much to eat so I just had some high glycemic carbs…and way more wine than I’d normally drink. I woke up VERY SICK with a SEVERE low blood sugar attack at about 6 a.m. on Black Friday. For 3 years I had out of control hypoglycemia as something in my body broke. I eventually suspected that it was my liver that was the problem, not my pancreas. Like you mentioned, the liver not only releases glucose as needed, but also filters out booze. It will default to filtering out the booze and not maintaining a good blood sugar. So, WHAM, a scary hypoglycemic attack.

I was just saying to myself how people get diagnosed with diabetes but there's not enough awareness raised so how to prevent or how to manage it and live a normal life even when you go to the doctors that give you a diagnosis they tell you to check your blood sugars they may hang you some pamphlets and that's it maybe they'll send you to a dietitian but no one really tells you how to eat the foods that you have regularly in your refrigerator or things that you can buy that are not really expensive I've been watching about three other videos of yours I really appreciate you taking a common approach to it in ways that people can understand keep up the great job of bringing awareness to diabetes sense majority of the society has it but yet it just doesn't get the attention that it deserves because I'm a type 2 diabetic and my goal is to try to get off of the medication and I feel very hopeful watching your videos I know you're not a doctor but you've helped me more than most people in the medical field

As a Type One Diabetic for more than 70 years, I have not found coffee affected my blood glucose level at all. Now I way that with a qualifier, that is, I only drink about approx. 20 oz. / Day. Usually, first thin in the Morning. I have also found that instead of coffee I drink a Lions Main Mushroom coffee in the morning instead and that was by far great as I didn't experience an afternoon energy loss which usually occurs from coffee. Mushroom Coffee infused with 6 Superfood Mushrooms; Organic Cordyceps, Lion's Mane, Reishi, Turkey Tail, Maitake, & Chaga Adaptogens

Only? 20 oz is over 3 cups of coffee. A serving size of coffee is 6oz. Assuming standard coffee, that is about 325 mg caffeine. Nearly the max daily recommended intake of caffeine.

How does one become a type 1 diabetic? Most people are the worse one, type 2.
@ron95754
@ron95754 7 ай бұрын
There is no proven cause for how someone develops type 1 diabetes. It is not fair to say that type 2 diabetes is more serious. Type 2 diabetes is largely related to diet and lifestyle choices. Type 1 diabetes is a condition where the body’s immune system destroys the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas. There are many theories about why this happens, but none of them are confirmed. I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when I was 4 years old. I had to start taking insulin injections right away. I almost died from high blood sugar before they found out what was wrong with me. I learned how to inject myself with a glass syringe and a metal needle when I was 4. I have lived with diabetes for more than 70 years now. I have also run a retreat for people who have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. At the retreat, we put them on a diet of complex vegetable juices that we make ourselves, 4 to 5 times a day. We avoid the toxins that are in the processed juices sold by the food industry. Within a week, the type 2 diabetes symptoms that the doctors detected are gone. Then we switch to eating whole vegetables. After another 2 weeks, we move to whole foods, with no processed food or starches. These people leave our retreat cured of the type 2 diabetes condition. It is a dietary cause. It only takes people who are serious about getting rid of the type 2 condition they have created. Those who are not serious often go back to eating heavily processed foods and overeating. Then they are diagnosed with type 2 diabetes again. This treatment is not effective for type 1 diabetes. Type 1 diabetes is caused by the body’s immune system attacking and destroying its own insulin. Insulin is essential for regulating blood sugar levels. People with type 1 diabetes need to take insulin by injection or pump. They also need to monitor their blood sugar levels and adjust their insulin doses based on their food intake and activity. Continuous blood glucose monitors are devices that can help with this task by measuring blood sugar levels throughout the day. @@videogazer801

Every person’s glucose sensitivity to food is different when diabetic. I can’t eat any beans or grains or my blood sugar will be in the 200’s 😬 I am grain free and bean free! I eat animal protein, high fiber fruits and veggies and only low glycemic fruits like avocados and berries. I take a ton of supplements and have for 20 years, I am now 63 years old. I have a new job that I walk 2-4 miles a day that is helping manage my blood sugar also. I take any “treats” I want to eat to work since I’ll be very active for 6 hours! If your job doesn’t support your diabetic lifestyle then consider looking for a new career. I have an accounting background ground and sat 8-10 hours a day and I was really unhealthy. Now I work for County Parks and Recreation were I live and I am active all day like no and outdoors. I live my job because I am healthier than I’ve been in a long time 🎉

Good advice except for the bit about drinking whiskey. Simply put alcohol is a nerve toxin. Ever hear the phrase "blind drunk?" It arose from the fact that alcoholics can literally destroy their optic nerve through excessive alcohol consumption. Many years ago when I was first experiencing diabetic neuropathy I was at a party and someone offered me a gin and tonic. By the time I'd finished the drink both my feet felt like they were on fire! I was at the time teaching sea kayaking and a week or two later I had a client who was a neurologist. When I mentioned the gin and tonic causing my feet to burn he said, "If I were you I would give up alcohol consumption. Diabetics often develop neuropathy and alcohol consumption will only make it worse." That was in 1982 and I have not touched a drop of alcohol since. I guess the motto of my story is "Once feet burn, twice shy!"

Dawn Phenomenon should be expected as part of the circadian rhythm, to prepare you for the day's activities. Hmm. Coffee was not a problem for me. (Type 2). Although I will use regular vinegar with certain food, as well as dill pickles and/or sauerkraut, I also drink a lot of lemon juice before food with starches, as the acids in all of them will slow down their processing (supposedly). It seems to work for me.

I’m eating almost a carnivore diet and usually eat one meal a day, and if that meal is late in the day, I often wake with a very high blood glucose after many hours of reasonable or even low blood glucose. I think that this might be due to gastroparesis: my stomach sometimes won’t release its contents to the small intestine for further digestion until I’m asleep. I’ve been a type 1 diabetic since 1970 and neuropathy of the vagus nerve is usual in diabetics like me. It might help to have several smaller meals, but often my stomach will just hold them for almost a day, with little digestion.

My morning blood glucose levels are often right around that 86, or lower. The problem is, an hour later, without ingesting a single calorie, it doubles or even triples. Typically at a rate that causes the arrow on my CGM to be tilted upward, or straight vertical. And some days it will just continue to rise all morning, even while being extremely physically active. Other days, it'll just spike to 140-150, and stop there. But again, always at a fast rate.

I am often hypoglycemic, or near it, overnight and first thing. But none of that is different compared to the last 2-3 years. I'm not exercising in the morning, at most a leisurely walk with the dog. I'm a fitness professional, so I'm well versed in the effects exercise can have on blood sugar. The CGM has also been the same for 3 years now, the only thing different is the behavior of my blood sugar. Today it's risen from 98, to 182...and I've ingested...oxygen. 🤷🏽‍♂️ So I've injected the usual 2-3 units of Humalog on an empty stomach that brings it back down where it's supposed to be/was, and keeps it there the rest of the morning until I eat.

I don't think he forwards it. There is what is called a sensor, transmitter and receiver. The sensor is attached to your skin and senses your what the blood glucose in your body is, then the transmitter transmits it to the receiver. The receiver is what will show you the blood glucose on a devise. The main devise has to be in a certain proximity to the to you to read the blood sugar then it can be read in other devises.

I'm a scientist and having T1D since 50+ years. As a lecturer I also taught research methods couses. My comment on Hack 7: correlation does not mean causation. Maybe you sleept badly because glucose levels went up... Also... are you using an insulin pump? because in that case many of your points can be taken care of by carefully adapting your pump settings. My morning glucose levels are typically between 4.8-5.6.

Had to fast for testing. Why does glucose go up when waking up? For instance: 6:00 110 9:00 148 As glucose went higher, I started shaking. I just don't understand.

According to some research, the enzymes in bromelain can increase the speed at which the body digests fats. If the right amount of bromelain can also digest fats on the liver or pancreas, that will be a great news.

My retired doctor said, exercise, lose weight, eat whole food, pick one. I did exercise. Worked. Then I stopped, now must go back to his advice. All three are best. Try 300 calorie meals every four hours. Not medical advice. For me nuts and hard boiled eggs really kill hunger, as well as tic tacks, two calorie candies. See what works for you. Experiment. You are your own doctor. If it is to be it is up to me. Good luck.

I’m not understanding why some say don’t eat carbs with fats, but Glucose Goddess says “put clothes on ur carbs” isn’t putting clothes/fat on the carbs good then?
@julilla1
@julilla1 9 ай бұрын
IMO, you'll have to test this in your own body as we are all different. Your body spends hours processing the fat and once it's done with that, the carbs and protein hit. If you're eating something high fiber like a salad or vegetables, don't worry about it. If you're having that rib eye steak or pizza or a cheeseburger, those carbs and the protein will stick around a lot longer.

@LaurisDravnieks 9 ай бұрын
If you activate the sensor with the phone, you can scan sensor and receive alarms only with the phone. If at first you activate the sensor with your reader, and a little later by your phone then you have two devices to scan your sensor but the alarms will go only to the reader. This is the way it's designed.

I just found out I have type 2. I’m really scared. I’m not super heavy but a little overweight. I’m 5’11 and weight about 205. I should be about 195. But I do well all day and then dinner comes and I’m craving everything and anything. Just eating healthy all day almost makes me crave more at dinner. I don’t have will power. I just crave food and I am always hungry. Even if I eat a healthy meal and eat a little extra I am super hungry 1 hour later. Please anyone what do I do? Do the diabetic shakes help? They are so expensive. Like 24 for 40 bucks and I’d probably drink 5 a day knowing myself. I don’t want to go on shots so please any advice? I coach soccer and I exercise 3 times a week with the team but I have a bad back so I can’t overdo that either. Am I in big trouble? I have two young daughters that need me. I do drink coffee on the way to work and I don’t know what to replace it with because it’s so relaxing having my morning coffee. 😢

Diabetic shakes are a waste of money, IMO. What you really need to do is to find something that keeps you satisfied for a longer period of time. Protein with a little fat really helps with this. Use nuts for a snack, or a an egg or a slice of cheese. Diabetes itself makes you feel stupid hungry, a lot of times because your blood sugar is too high. You should be monitoring your blood sugar a lot in the beginning to know how food is affecting you. When you're super hungry and have eaten recently, check your sugar, it might actually be high.

Since starting a new Libre 2, my overnight readings have been low, in the 50's. I've noticed on occasions in the past when lying on my arm with the Libre 2 sensor, the readings can be low, presumably due to reduced blood flow, but this is now all night long, regardless of position?? What's going on? My morning finger stick was fine at 80. I have insulin resistance, not diabetes (was pre-diabetic for some years, now back in normal HbA1c range thanks to WFPB diet x 1 yr and at least 12hr overnight fast). Would appreciate your comment and perhaps recommendation for a better CGM product. Thanks!
