Omg I love this series sososo much - I have no education in design, just a natural interest in it and you guys are so generous giving out all this knowledge - this is incredibly valuable and highly appreciated. I'm currently creating all my business stuff by myself (logo, business cards the whole shabang) and I wouldn't be able to if it wasn't for you. Thank you!

I absolutely love these sorts of videos. These types of videos are my best way to learn design. There are some recurring themes through both the designs themselves and the feedback provided by Chris and Milka. It seems like a lot of these designs are forcing certain design patterns, like a lot of these designs implementing a "satellite" or working the type all the way to the edges of the page and cutting things off... Not that these are bad solutions or anything, but it can get repetitive. While I do agree with some/most of the re-designs Chris/Milka do for each work, they always seem to come back to having the same design features but done in a slightly different way.
@joshuanorris30174 жыл бұрын
Totally agree Ando this is in no way a dig at both Chris and Milka but it’s coming across as the only way to fix things/design things. However the fact of the matter is. It looks Dam good when they do it 😂😂

That is indeed true, someone said to me to take like 10 of their pictures and arrange them because i am a ''designer'' and i know these things, so i used what i learned from typography 01 to do it, something i couldnt do before in a beautiful manner!

I'd like to thank Chris again for pointing out the idea of Watching someone else's critique as if it were your own design. Most of the show I've focused on waiting for my layout to show up or focused on the comment section instead of absorbing all the free priceless information that's presented to me. I would also like to ask if you guys could redistribute the attention given to each layout, since you talked about the first few designs for about 10-15mins each and than about 1-2 minutes to the rest of the designs near the end. I'm not saying this so that I could see my layout critiqued, in fact it seems like it wasn't there this time, it just feels like some critiques (Or more like "Redesigns") are being dragged for too long trying to redesign the layouts to reach the "perfect" point which is mostly impossible. To me it's counter-productive to the idea (As Milka said) of seeing and absorbing many different designs and having them analyzed properly.

Let’s see if we can accommodate this.

I watch this series from the beginning and after this episode I already feel very tired. And not the stream length at all. In my opinion, Chris Do has very accurate insights. He can analyze a lot of projects, give many comments, guide and suggest what can be done better. Accurate, to the point. SPECIFICALLY. From the moment that entered Milka's stream, with all due respect to the knowledge she has, the streams become more and more tiring. I understand that metaphors and sonic articulations can be fun and enjoyable. But it's not only about flowery speech. I did not participate in the challenge, but I agree with the above statement that later there is not enough time for specifics and analysis of other examples. Two different visions of the layout of two different designers. One is very specific and quick in analyze. The second one with a different vision and a longer speach, to much of flowery speech, and getting to the bottom of the design analysis takes much slower. Despite this. I think this is a really nice series. One of the most interesting for me on the channel. Thank you :)

When you are not there yet as a designer, and good design work is presented (just like in understanding any form of art or music), you know it's good but you can't understand it yet. It's like playing hide and seek. You KNOW it's there, somewhere, just need to find it. A fun, and often frustrating, challenge.

Thank you Chris and Milka for the wonderful critique. I have enjoyed the whole session and learned really a lot from it. However, after thinking about the session, I came out with a suggestion for you to consider, though I'm not sure if it is practical. I found that many layouts submitted actually share very similar problems, such as, "no focus point", "too competing", or "too boring". Instead of comment on each individual piece, I think it may be much easier for the audience to grasp the idea by categorizing and generalize them. It also helps the students to figure out the category their work belongs to by referring and examining multiple examples within the same category. Also, by grouping the problems, it may repeat and enhance the ideas and techniques used in fixing the problem. Again, a big thank you for your critique session, it helped me so much. Often I fell into the problem of either not able to pinpoint the problem or even if I manage to figure it out, I could not solve the problem effectively. Thanks, Chris and Milka for the wonderful critique, I have enjoyed the full live stream and learned a lot from it.

Typographic, design and creativity of any sort has been a challenge for me in this regard. I love applying it, learning about it, trying, trying and trying however I feel like I am walking on ice and pray I will find a rail, a ledge before I fall on my face. This is true, I am spun tight and uptight because of it. I am going to try something new. I will fall on my face and savor the thoughts and feelings as they come to me.

Regarding Cole Fraser's design and whether or not to rotate the feature names section to horizontal for greater legibility--one of the things I love about it is that it feels like an abstract city skyline with buildings in the distance, too. When you rotate it horizontally, we lose that beauty and it doesn't work for me anymore.
