I remember playing this game as a kid, OMG it's BAD, couldn't make it very far my self, got stuck on that "What the Heck" Fire Demon level, couldn't figure out where to go for the life of me. At the exact spot you skipped actually, I assume it had something to do with that little sparkling hook now that I've seen this again. Didn't have internet or youtube or anything back then, you were just on your own.

The water level with the submarine and the final level with all the spikes and the constant swinging from hook to hook were both hard as nails. Took me absolutely ages to beat this game as a kid.

I still love the art, music, and humor, but the gameplay did have collision detection issues which made it really really difficult to beat. I still have nightmares of the underwater glass submarine level.

I used to love playing with this game as a kid, but, like most retro games when I was that age, I never beat it. I later got the remaster on xbox360, which looked way nicer in my opinion.

I just tried this game and hated it. Seems like bad game design. Floaty platforming, obscure mechanics, blind jumps and cheap desths. Everyone else i hear talking about this game seems to love it. Perhaps its a nostalgia thing. I never played this game as a kid although i loved the cartoon

This was one of the three Sega games I had as a kid. Earthworm Jim, Comix Zone, and Mortal Kombat 2. My poor sister was given The Lion King and the Aladin game. Needless to say I got really good at Scorpion while she mastered Sub Zero in MK2.

Loved EWJ as a kid. Both the first and the second. Probably completed both of them 10 times each. The thing about old games is they are very pattern oriented, so if you don't excel in pattern recognition, then you're going to have an overall miserable time xD. That, and you need patience - something that is almost impossible to learn, since it's wired into who we are.

Too bad they came up with a cool looking character and could've ran with it like sonic, mario, crash, and spyro; if they'd have made the game playable. Wasted potential franchise imo.

You know this game is considered a classic right and is held in high regard and was popular enough to get two sequels, a bunch of ports, a cartoon, a forth game for the Intellivision Amico and a new cartoon which just got announced? If this game wasn’t good and people didn’t like it then it wouldn’t have had such a big following and sequels and two cartoons. Earthworm Jim is considered a great right up there with Mario, Sonic Crash and Rayman!

Hated this game as a kid. The bungee jump sequence is especially awful. It controls terribly and the devs could've made something cool but they chose to make something obnoxious. Oh well, the creator turned out to be a jerk anyway apparently.

Sekiro plays way different than 2D platformers do. And that was the Guru who is good at Sekiro, Throthgar does his own playthrough of Sekiro. The old 8bit and 16bit platformers were hard in their own different ways usually with time limits and limited continues.
