I’m a Wisconsin resident and huge Bucks fan, so obviously Giannis is my favorite player. But I also went to Oshkosh West when Tyrese was at Oshkosh North. He was phenomenal, but no one, even on Tyrese’s team (according to Osh North players I talked to) thought he would make the NBA, except for Tyrese himself. He would give us 40 every damn time, and their 1-3-1 was infuriating. Tyrese just always made the right play. Fast forward through his basketball career and he has continued to do just that, make the correct play damn near every single time. He plays a beautiful game of basketball, and I can say as someone who has watched him since high school, he has always been humble, had great parents, been a great teammate, unselfish and a hell of a worker. People would talk about how he couldn’t gain weight his first year of college, but lo and behold he was able to do it. At every level, whatever improvement he has needed to make, he’s done it. He still comes back to Oshkosh every once in a while, and sees old high school teammates etc. a great man and easily my second favorite NBA player.

YEsssssss / thank you for taking this format for what it can do - talk about TEAMS in the NBA and not just the big market teams over and over. The NBA is essentially big market vs small market. Let’s let the internet balance the scales of focus. The Pacers deserve discussion as due other smaller market teams. Appreciate this for convo. Hats off ✌️👏🏼🎬

Awesome episode. the fact that tyrese has great chemistry already with jj on the pod makes it even better. I especially loved the question and answer about why some shooters dont really develop or they resist moving off the ball and the one about the vibe in the locker room on a winning vs losing team. Great insight from current and former player on things like the impact of egos, having a healthy competition level on the roster while working toward the same goal and how having a few joyful players who love the work everyday no matter the circumstance can be one of, if not THE most important factor on a teams energy throughout the long season. I think things like that aren't emphasized enough just because the outside doesnt witness it daily and even arent valued enough sometimes when building a well rounded roster that fits together. It not all about talent or on court fit, but personalities meshing and having a balance of different traits. There's too much focus and too much value on forcing talent to work together a lot of times imo. My favorite thing and the thing that stands out about tyrese to me isnt just his game but the way he thinks the game, his iq, his pulse and understanding of all moving pieces surrounding performance on the court, especially for still a very young player. I dont think many players in the league in general (not just young guys) have that type of grasp on the game. Its really impressive. I remember only watching a bit of him in college but was pretty sold on him being a pretty safe bet to be a good player leading into the draft and was surprised he wasnt at least picked by the 5 teams ahead of the kings, if not top 5. And i know its early in his career but he already clearly has a super bright future post career. Looking for forward to watching him the rest of this year and his continued development throughout his career. And more of these episodes with him. Love it

It's before JJ's time but the all-time leader in the funky shot category has to be Jamaal Wilkes. For the youngins, Wilkes played with the Rick Barry Warriors who won a chip and "Silk" also played with Magic Johnson and the Lakers in the early '80s and won a chip there too.

Tyrese Halliburton’s play this year has transformed Indiana into one of the most fun teams to watch in the NBA. It was interesting to hear him talk about proving his detractors wrong around 45:00. I think that there is kind of a point about his individual shot creation, because of the way he shoots I don’t know how well he can get that shot off in a 1:1 situation but it doesn’t even really matter. Wishing him continued success.

Love coming back here after watching what Haliburton just did to the Celtics in the In-Season Tournament. 19:26 22:00 Talked very highly of the Celtics and Jrue Holiday's defense, which is all facts. And he had Jrue on him trying to play lockdown defense. But he went out there, and DID THAT. LET HIM COOK. 😎😎🔥🔥 I didn't know Haliburton was so skilled tbh. And its probably also because their games are never on tv over here. 😂 C'mon NBA, get these Pacers some more damn national televised games. Been a big fan of Maxey and Anthony Edwards for years now. But yeaa, I can say I got some love for Haliburton too now. The confidence in attack mode and shot making, the play making. That no look pass to homie running the floor was SLICK. He cold 😎

The NBA needs to do a better job at spreading national tv games amongst different teams in the league, its absolutely ridiculous that a lot of good teams and players will never get any recognition because of this. Like last season the kings didn't have a single nationally televised game until they went on like a 10 game winning streak.

I feel like people are having really short memories on the taunting technical debate. When LeBron caught an alley oop and dunked on Jason Terry, all he did is take 1 step towards Terry while he was on the ground and he got a technical. Like a lot of rules, the guidelines are changing and this year, they're cracking down on after-dunk celebrations - the league/refs just need to be consistant

Interesting they both immediately agree that Ant will be a unanimous top 5 player in 2-3 years. I think hes capable of it but the mount of talent in the NBA just keeps getting crazier. Even of the old guys like LeBron, Steph, KD, AD, etc. all fall off, Giannis, Jokic, and Embiid will likely all still be at their best, Tatum, Luka and Tyrese arent going anywhere, and by then who knows what guys like Wemby or Chet will be. Hard to just guarantee any one guy will be top 5 in 3-5 years from now.
