I’m from Germany and my sister once had an exchange student from America coming to our place. I believe it was back in 2015. On the first or second day she was here we had a little conversation about the news, politics and stuff like that. We were really shocked to find out how little she knew about what’s happening in the rest of the world. This is good advice for anyone in general who is from a smaller country that most people won't know, just giving the general region you're from (central Asia, Caribbean, west Africa, North Africa, etc) is enough information most people are interested in anyway. It's not even "smaller countries" that have an issue with this, most people are far more ignorant of geography than we realise and it can get really tiring having to teach everyone you meet about where you're from.
