Loved hearing the old school piano music in the background! Wish they'd use more dark meat in chicken sandwiches and burritos/wraps. Especially if marinated and grilled.

Fun fact. When McDonalds first introduced drive thrus in China, it was such a foreign concept. The customers would order and receive their food then proceed to park their cars in the lot and take the food back inside the restaurant to eat.😂😂😂

When China first opened up for tourism, it was bare bones. My friend went. Her tour group had to stay in the officers barracks. Every place they ate, was eight course meals. She loved it . Towards the end, she said all she wanted was a hamburger.

I am a sucker for an international McDonalds review. I appreciate your honesty, and I’m happy you shared it with us. I was at a McD’s in Hong Kong and I was wishing they had more Chinese exclusives. It was unfortunately very similar to the US menu. Overall, I enjoyed it though. Best unique item they had was a Hello Kitty themed Ube pie.

I wish BK, McD's, KFC, etc. would test their foreign market items more often here in the States. KZbin has shown a great many Americans that even though they started here, fast food mega corps are just phoning it in domestically and innovating and making quality food everywhere else.

Went to Thailand last year and the McDonalds there has some pretty decent spicy fried chicken. Im not a particular McD fan but I do appreciate their regional "awareness" if you like. Was amazed I could actually get a traditional Thai breakfast there with rice porridge, chicken mince and coriander... Probably the most unusual thing ive ever had at one of their locations but it was pretty good.

Hey, im currently writing about McDonald's in my country and comparring it with McDonald's in China. So about the products, do they sell Rice, or something like that? is there any menu with rice or ramen. I know it sounds very stereotypical, and i don't mean to be mean. I just wanna know. I would appreciate your answer as soon as possible. Great video tho.
@JackSprat2014 ай бұрын
I enjoyed your review as usual. Yes, if you are going to grill the chicken, the white meat is at great risk of becoming tough on the outside and dry on the inside, whereas a thigh is a much better bet. I wanted to thank you for looking into the issue I had with the characters for King's Joy. 京都is Japanese for Kyoto, and similar to Beijing, just the character 京, pronounced Kyo passes for the complete name (Japanese love to contract everything) or the alternative pronunciation serves, Miyako, which means capital. I never knew 戸was read as Ying in Chinese. The computer gave you a lot of references for 北but in Japanese this is pretty unambiguously North, although so many characters can be pronounced the same creating a lot of puns, a basis of Japanese humor, and they are also--I think this is true in China as well--often used simply as their phonetic sound, like米which means rice but can be pronounced as mei in both Chinese and Japanese and is used to mean 'American'. But I still don't see any character that can remotely be associated with King (capital maybe) or joy, although kita which means north might possibly phonetically represent 'ki' which is one reading of 'joy' so if a similar phonetic ambiguity exists between north and joy in Chinese? I'm sorry to be so pedantic and boring, but I also saw you confronted with the packaging of the burger. In Japan you literally can't open any little package or use any everyday item if you can't read the tiny instructions printed on the package; there is no standard way of cooking instant noodles, or even opening the packaging. I have an American wife who loves Japan and doesn't care, buys things without knowing what they are or how to use them. She is fluent in spoken Japanese--that does not mean she is either correct or could ever pass for Japanese on the phone--but she can keep most conversations going. But she can't read, and that handicaps her. I had to instruct her how to open a rice ball from 7-11, but I never knew either until I read the wrapper.

The best McDonalds I have been to ever was in downtown Milan across from the duomo (big cathedral). It was very busy/popular and the food was as good as McDonalds gets. People kept telling me to try McDonalds in Germany. I tried the McDonalds in Munich that is the busiest McDonalds in Europe and it was as mediocre as you would find in the US. I also tred a McDonalds on the autobahn between Berlin and Nuremberg. The people were very nice but the foods was mediocre. So in my book, Milan is the one to beat.

David Chang started a chicken sandwich place called Fuku. They supposedly only use dark meat for it's better chicken flavor and tendency to not dry out. It doesn't sound like they were very successful though other than stadium concessions and a couple of locations in NYC. I'd think a "suburban" part of Beijing isn't really that unusual. I mean - there are parts of NYC that feel like suburbs. But then Beijing is huge, where they just kept on annexing more and more land into a prefecture level city where it gets to the point where it seems they just want to make a really large city just to claim it's big. But Beijing itself is divided into districts and counties. But as a point of comparison, Beijing is over 6000 square miles, while NYC is about 300 square miles.

Outside of fast food, there really aren't that many American restaurant chains in China other than maybe Pizza hut. The only one I can think of is TGI Fridays, which has two locations in Beijing. I didn't see one on a trip to Beijing, but I do remember one at our hotel in Wuxi on New Year's Eve. It was weird too, where I saw a server wearing this big foam cowboy-style hat with a stars and stripes motif. I heard there are a few Chili's in China, but not in Beijing yet.

Your video is flickering due to the power supply frequency difference. It affects street lights, indoor ligting, and televisions, etc. In Europe/Asia (PAL), the frequency is 50 Hz, and videos typically run at 25 fps. In the USA (NTSC), the frequency is 60 Hz, and videos run at 29.97 fps. Adjust your settings accordingly. Hope this helps.

@ypw5104 ай бұрын
I've seen a few Costco locations do that with the little sippy flap. Initially started with cities that banned plastic straws, which then got complaints about paper straws (which start to fall apart when wet). Still - I've occasionally seen it where they have the little flaps but then offer straws. Since there's no traditional straw opening, the straw goes in the flap but that leaves a big hole that can leak if it's in a car cup holder.
