It's not about being too good for the Big 12, Whitt has said frequently that he is predicting college football will move to a two super conference model. That's not a slight, it's just a prediction.
@heathwilliams97548 күн бұрын
Good heavens... Here come the idiots thinking that every time Coach Whitt mentions something about conference realignment and the potential that BYU and Utah won't be in the same conference in the near future, y'all assume he hates the Big12 and is claiming that Utah will move up while BYU stays down. All he said was that they may not be in the same conference in 2 years. He might be thinking BYU could move up while Utah stays down. But y'all want to be offended by something so badly that you put words in his mouth that he never said. He never said Utah was too good for the Big12 or that Utah was going to the BIG10. All he said is that conference realignment is not over and he doesn't know if Utah and BYU will be in the same conference in a few years. That's really the gist of all he's ever said on the matter. And if you're the SEC and BIG10, what would you do right now? Would you want to share the playoff with the Big12, ACC, and G5? If I'm them, I'm thinking to do y'all a favor and give the Big12, ACC, G5 their own playoff while the BIG10 and SEC become a higher league. Similar to the difference between FBS and FCS. Or the NCAA tournament and NIT for basketball. Rather than just have the BIG10 and SEC crush y'all's dreams every year, how about you all play your own little playoff while the blue bloods and their regional schools with big enough research programs, etc get to play in their own echelon of the NCAAF and have their own playoff without having to share any spots with the other conferences. It really does make sense. Especially since the NIL money is bigger in all of those schools and the divide between the BIG10/SEC and everyone else will only get bigger from this point on.

That is rich. So when BYU plows Utah into the ground it will be because of the BYU coaching staff who leaned their skills while formally at Utah 13:30. Funny, how Whittingham doesn't mentioned what he learned from being a player at BYU.
@heathwilliams97548 күн бұрын
He's mentioned dozens of times what he learned playing under Lavell Edwards. He simply doesn't bring it up every press conference. And Coach Sitake has mentioned a few times how much he's learned from Coach Whitt and his time as the line coach and DC at Utah. It's a circle that goes round and round. I wonder where Lavell learned it all from. It doesn't just start at BYU or Utah. But do we really have to recite the entire line of football genealogy every time one part of it is brought up?

May be why BYU is emerging in Football and Basketball. They can finally pay out. And, their brand tends to retain. I’m afraid part of the U’s problem is they have NFL caliber guys who are eyeing the exits because they aren’t getting the stats they need.
@markbailey176 күн бұрын
1. who can already feel it? 2. ironically, having good coaches is maybe more important than ever. used to be, kyle wittingham could out-recruit BYU and sit back and watch his team go 8-4 and lose in the rose bowl, but not anymore. now that recruiting is potentially very level, he's sticking out pretty bad.
@mikecook98646 күн бұрын
@@markbailey17 1. People who pay attention to college football. 2. Recruiting is part of what makes a good coach in college. Also developing talent where you can find it. That's what has made Whit so successful. He and his staff are able to find talent wherever they can and mold it to work in his system. Since the transfer portal, talent development made way to more recruiting. Since NIL, recruiting is making way to budget. Eventually you'll have market caps and trades and it will just be an NFL feeder league. I agree he's sticking out because the coaching game has changed. I just don't like what it's changing to.
