The Addams Family was popular in reruns and advertising at the time, geared more towards the younger generation. Same reason why the movie ended up getting made, why the original Star Trek got more popular, and why Gilligan's Island became popular again, it was cheap rerun content for TV stations to run.
@SamtheBravesFan3 жыл бұрын
Agreed. And that's fine. Sometimes things get popular through reruns.
@shabmaster71283 жыл бұрын
@@SamtheBravesFan it was really a response to the rise in independent TV stations and cable networks that exclusively existed in the 70s and 80s that allowed this to really happen. We saw a mini version of the same thing with the rise of streaming, but the time frame was more condensed. No one back when these shows were being newly produced expected anything like that type of content market to exist.
@dark14life3 жыл бұрын
Exactly. TBS back in the 80's would air reruns of Gilligan's Island and The Addams Family. Which my sister and I watched a lot. My dad was a huge Star Trek fan so we always watched the reruns of that, as well. Reruns really helped those shows gain traction with my generation and resulted in The Addams Family movies and TNG being created.

Your comment about it being a nightmare for color blind people really struck home. I am not color blind, but my parents would only let the nes be hooked up to an old black and white television for awhile. Not sure how I ever reached the 4th boss without knowing if each gun/whip would level me up or down. Later when hooked up to a color television, it was so much more enjoyable.

A childhood favorite of mine, and still a strong title in my NES library! Just a note about the story: the aliens abduct the townspeople, not Gomez. Gomez stays at the Addams' house to protect it while Fester and the rest of the fam take on the aliens. That's why he's in that cutscene when you get the 4th health box. The story is in the manual. I can send a link to a site that has scans for most NES manuals if you'd like it. Also, the dot after you get all the clues reveals the location of the final boss. It isn't really helpful either way, but that's what it's supposed to do.

Beating this game was a fun challenge. Didn't do it until 2013, and haven't played the game since. Only thing I have to say is regarding the final building, T.Rex's. The path you outline takes a bit longer than you really need, unless I'm missing something. After you take that 2nd left, and then the 1st right, you go to the end of the hall and turn left. It would be faster to take that right one tile before the left, then take the next left, turn left again at the wall, then take the immediate right, turn right again at the wall, and right one more time at the next wall. I love these videos of yours, by the way. Keep up the good work.

So much so it’s infectious. Good job man I’m new to this channel but very interested in your growth. If I had any feedback it would just be to not worry so much about adding any kind of affect to your voice. You can tell in the intro and just time to time an affect is happening which just causes a stiff unnatural quality to voice. When you speak comfortably from your trail of thought it sounds much more natural and fluid! Of course it’s good to pace your speech and annunciate clearly which you are doing well. Just don’t worry about trying to sound more unique or more entertaining via your tone and affect. Your content and personality and charm will do that work for you naturally! Ty kindly for your time and efforts!

This channel reminds me of a modern video version of old issues of Nintendo Power. Love it. Keep it up, bud.

@@schwarzerritter5724 I'm impressed if you could beat it at all. I made it to the final boss once but without the shield and was sent back to level 4. I wanted to punch the developers.

Instant like and subbed. sorry if i sounded like a tool here but I really like this channel alot so far :) This is like "Until we win". Didn't grow up playing most NES games so I've never played this game but I did grow up playing the 16bit era addams family games which were enjoyable rentals back in the day, the movies and cartoons were really great and the movies still hold up which I don't say so often about most old media.

I beat this around 1991-1992. Only found one extra health bar in the maze and, after much trial and error, learned how to maneuver through the game and beat it. I borrowed this from someone at school without the instruction manual, so at the time, I had no idea that money could buy health. As a result, I had to beat this without getting hit, or only hit twice.

I really love you, and what you're doing here. This stuff certainly isn't easy, and you've managed to break it down into very concise and easy to follow directions, but it will still take lots of practice to accomplish.

I remember renting this one weekend when I was a lad. One big problem though, while I was lucky and had a TV in my room to play NES on it was a Black & White TV. It was a crap shoot to try and keep my gun powered up lol.

My parents rented me this game when I was...probably about 7? I liked Uncle Fester, but I couldn't figure the game out during the 2-day rental. I remember finding the building the first boss is in, but I think I got lost in there as I don't remember actually fighting the boss, lol. In fact, I think I remember being kind of scared by the pseudo 3-D segments, as they felt very claustrophobic to me. Also, wow, Dinosaucers? That was my jam back then, along with TMNT. I didn't know there were any other Secret Scouts out there! Really loved this video, thanks so much!

Some huge notes from yours truly regarding the mothership maze: You can spawn up to three of those Mr. I (those small, bouncy pink guys). Then, you shoot each Mr. I twice with your needle gun to make them move faster. Use the square room you started at to pull all this off. That done, let them follow you and remain visible at the screen at all times. When you get to the waving hallway, you can use its design to bundle the three Mr. I together, making it supremely easier for you to keep your eye (haw, haw, haw) on them. And finally, while you are babysitting the Mr. I triplets, navigate through the mothership maze from start of finish. My point with all this? Well, due to this game's sprite limitation, you will never suffer the major nuisances that are the other enemies, because the three Mr. I keep on blocking the others from spawning in, granting you a far more safer advance. Just don't run into a dead end, as that will most likely result in you losing a block of health from colliding into the Mr. I bunch, as you U-Turn back. Though, that's more on you for not memorizing the maze right. And yes, that means that you don't have to use a single noose when inside the mothership, though the small island before it, you can use a few of the nooses, to keep the Big Mouths and their downgrading drops away from you. Oh, and did I forget to mention that the Mr. I trick can fully prevent you from seeing those dastardly drops at all? On top of all this, you have a far easier time of dealing with the final boss, as you can keep all of your ten potions stacked up and ready. You don't even have to utilize the going-to-very-right-after-destroying-the-turrets trick, though you have to destroy the turrets before you can do some extra damage to the final boss with your needle gun, while your missiles are buzzing all over, praying to hit the target. You also have to find both of the health upgrades, time your missile fire so it won't get interrupted by the orange projectile, and utilize as many seconds of your invincibility buffers as you can, to defeat this equivalent of Mother Brain with brute force. Proof of all this is in my playthrough of this game, so do check it out for visual proof if you find this comment of mine to be utter gibberish.
