These highlights are underwhelming and it’s taken a day to produce. Doesn’t show the course profile or map, has a 1 second clip of the start, and no build up before pogcar attack. It doesn’t do the race justice

the "extended highlights" of the tour this summer, they were little big masterpieces. But everyone knew that was rare. Maybe if we keep moaning in the commentaries of all the "bad" highlights, they will hire the right talent to edit? We demand only the highest quality free stuff online!! Hats off to great editors btw.

A most amazing ride! It reminded me of Froome's raid to win the Giro. The strategy pits steady power vs erratic surges and relies on the chasers getting nervous, and not having a long term strategy/view leaving many of them in the wind chasing each other rather than a coordinated effort. If the chasers had ridden a more measured race, Pogacar may have had an extra minute lead with 2 laps to go, but none of the contenders would have been in the wind yet and Pogacar may have been chased down by a group of much fresher riders. Hats off to Pogacar! A real champion!
@decidrophobАй бұрын
Froome's win was understandable considering that the chase group consisted only of Domoulin as a GC rider. This time, it looks pretty embarrassing to me that the chase group did not seem to succeed in sufficient cooperation. This makes the concept of peloton in question. And it may indeed be the case that World Championship is different from grand tours. Getting silver probably gave too high an incentive compared with the second place in grand tours. Pogacar possibly saw the incentive structure of World Championship correctly, which looks absolutely innovative!
@GregBeckerАй бұрын
@@decidrophob Agreed. I think the similarity is that Froome relied on the chasers not having team mates/domestiques making it more of a head to head race. There were times when Pogacar was out front, Evenepoel was putting in a big dig and van der Poel was chasing him down as well... I think that having someone like WvA in the Belgium team could have helped as RE would have had a partner in crime, although the WvA and MvdP rivalry would have been another layer of complexity...

Perfect (but crazy 😂) tactics from Pog’s National team - with some useful support from his UAE teammate Sivakov (who was racing for France, of course 😉). And there is some logic to those tactics (planned or not) - it’s pretty clear that no-one in the chasing group would help Remco (given his recent amazing results), so it does make sense to put yourself at the front and hope that the chasers won’t chase.
