I've been wondering what was going on with Pauline and had no idea, this episode really made me cry so much. I'm also at uni far from home and on one hand you do this amazing experience of being abroad but on the other it's just horrible because distance sucks! When her mum said they videocall to just feel there... man, I felt it right in my heart. Hopefully next year will be better, go go go Pulla!

I am so impressed with the ladies of UCLA gymnastics and grateful my 8 year old daughter has them as role models! We waited outside Gil Coliseum in the chilly weather of the last day in Feb. after the meet at OSU for Pauline, as she’s one of Chloe’s favorite gymnasts.. she was the last one out and we noticed she had been crying - her eyes lit up a little bit as I explained that Chloe had waited just for her, it warms my heart to know that in that moment, not knowing what she had gone through, that my daughter could maybe be a little silver lining at the end of that day... what a treat to watch this video (Chloe follows all the videos!) and see her at the very end, it was such a sweet moment and it was one of Chloe’s best days ever to see her favorite ladies in action!! Pauline, sorry for the loss of your friend... despite everything you went through, being sick and navigating grief, feeling your feelings and perseverance through difficult times just makes you that much more amazing. Remember, stars cannot shine without darkness, darling....

Wow! Can I just say that I’m so sorry that Paulina went through all that. It’s why we watch; it’s not just that UCLA is my favorite NCAA Women’s Gymnastics team. It’s because we as fans never see you aside from what we see in your routines. It’s one thing to see you all during your Elite careers; though you’re not spotlighted by the nation broadcasting channels, we see you in the background and hear your names called. We wanted to see more of you in your element and that’s why we watch you shine in NCAA. All of you women who’ve trained so long; we’re so glad we get to see you for another 4 years. I miss you all.

I don’t think she was misrepresenting her pain. I feel they come from elite gymnastics where they’re taught to tolerate high levels of pain and/or dismiss pain. That conditioning is very hard to break.
@jordanfinley73423 жыл бұрын
She was definitely misrepresenting her pain, but not at her fault by any means. She didn’t know she was doing that or mean to, but as you said, that is what she has been conditioned to do her entire career. Like she said at one point “it didn’t hurt that bad, I didn’t think” some people also just have really high natural pain tolerance levels (like when I fractured my patella in half I was the calmest person there lol) so it is harder to judge the accuracy of your pain level when you have a naturally high pain tolerance like that
