Never, never, never start and run these without attatching a wster hose to it. It can destroy your pump. This guy is suppise to be anexpert, but didn't realize one of the simplest things. The water acts as a lubricant and well, for the pump. Mine has done this 2 times. There is z design flaw in it. When tipped a little too much the oil gets in the gas. I took it to a certified small engine repair person whom explained this to me. Lowes doesn't sell these any more. I wander why?!?

The cleaning of the the bowl plug and getting the bowl to seat properly is all one has to do to get the engine to start and keep running. Just crimp off the fuel line. Tilt the washer on to its back to get at the bowl easier. Remove plug, blow out 3 holes with compressed air. Replace plug in bowl. Stand up the Washer unclamp the fuel line. and wallah the machine starts on the second pull

The newer carbs comes with faulty needles that don’t seat correctly tight. The float should be level when holding upside down. I have purchased own and the crap Chinese made and still haven’t had a decent carb. Normally just clean the bowl needle and down but our world has gone too crap in a few years

Guys I wanted to thank you for this video. I own several troy bilt products and they've all been great EXCEPT this one. I purchased this new then used it twice. The 3rd time it would not start. This was only 7 months after purchase. Returned it for warranty repair & was told the repair would not be covered. 125 dollars later for a new carb the explanation for not starting was "Something growing in the carb"... What grows in a gas environment?!? Anyway, took it back home and used it twice AGAIN and then it failed to start. I tried mech in a bottle without luck, then I stumbled across this video. I CAN NOT Thank you enough for sharing this video. That joker is working and I've stopped throwing stuff in the shop now LOL! Thank you! Time to get the green of the side of the house :)

I took the filter out and cleaned it.... tried starting it for an hour and a half...... was about to lug it onto my truck and bringing it in to have it serviced which would have cost me at least $250!!!! Sprayed carb cleaner like you did....started right up....used it ALL day!!!!!! But this time I added the stuff the repair center said to add to the gas so it doesn't happen again!!!! Craftsman washer was very hard to start, from new out of the box, last year. Would Not restart after shut down. Followed your advice and removed the float bowl. It was clean. I drained the tank, just in case the gas was bad. I then ran a tip cleaner up the bolt hole... gave it a good reem job. Looked like hot glue residue came out. Reassembled. Filled with new gas... started second pull. Shut down after a few minutes.... restarted on second pull. I connected to water. Started right up. When I squeezed the trigger, the engine sped up, and pressure washer runs fine! Thank You!

I fixed mine once before. I tried to make it easy on myself and just drop the bowl. It was obvious the float was stuck. I cleaned the jet and carb cleaned the crap out of all of it and it fired fired up 1st pull. It's always been a 1 pull starter. I came here looking for an assembly video because the people that partially assembled mine put it on the base backwards. Which makes getting at the carb extremely challenging. Good video guys. I figured I'm going to have it half way torn down so I may as well get a little deeper into the project. This video will serve as a reference point for when I completely forget how to put it back together hahahaaaaa. Thanks!!

Same crap happened to my new pressure washer, I used it once and put Sta-bil in there. Just about a week ago I pulled it out, hooked it up and trash! It is a year old but used for only 20 minutes of life. I got her started after getting her all high on starter fluid but I know I have work to do. I think I lucked out though... Over the winter a Caseys fuel station was built near me, they sell ethanol free fuel, that will be my small engine fill up joint. Thanks for the vid, glad you got it working.

I was at lowes today and they were getting rid of their power washer that they use to clean in the garden center. It was this exact model. They said $25 for the unit, came with a brand new 3700 PSI blue hawk hose, a adjustable pressure sprayer, and all of the attachments (plus a couple extras). The only problem, it wouldn't start. I pulled the cord in the store, saw it had compression and figure it was either a fuel issue with the carb, or a vacuum leak. Either way, a good buy for $25, even if the unit was shot. Brand new hose (40ft), attachments, and aftermarket sprayer. Got home, sprayed some starting fluid in the carb, and it ran for a few seconds...BINGO. Took it apart, cleaned it and....let's just say I'm a happy camper haha.

Great video! If you add a fuel line filter and remove the bottom bowl and clean needle and replace gas it will run smooth. That pressure washer is expensive and sucks. Only way to remove to clean out bottom bowl is to unscrew that bottom bowl and clean needle. Messy job. Adding a filter will keep you from having to mess with it.

My problem is my pressure washer (same make/model) would start but run rough. Almost stalled when engaging the pressure wand. I had already pulled the bolt out of the bottom of the bowl and cleaned those ports thoroughly so that wasn't the issue. I took off the top housing and the air filter housing so I could see the choke and it was sticky. Sprayed it down with carb cleaner well and it freed right up. My mistake was getting carb cleaner into the cylinder itself. That engine would not start, or even pop, for awhile. I just let it sit for a bit. Finally did start and ran normally thanks to unsticking the choke. But don't get the carb cleaner past the choke into the engine itself. Toluene might be flammable but the engine isn't designed to burn it.

Thank you again for the feedback! Great to know about the carb cleaner. Wonder what would happen if you cleaned out the carb with starting fluid (don't do that - just a joke).

Okay - I have a similar 2800 PSI 8.5 HP washer. I took the bowl off beefore watching this video and it was similar to my lawnmower that would not work last year. I tried cleaning the ports, but the single hole was stopped up completely and I could not get anything to clear the hole. I made the assumption that the single hole needed to be open, but wow, the ONLY thing to clear the hole was to take a 1/6 drill bit and drill the hole. It took about 30 minutes to get it clear. I have no idea what was blocking the hole. I probably screwed it up doing that, but I was pretty sure the single hole should be clear. The 2 side holes were easily cleared. I thought it would be a 10 minute job. I worked 2 hours and finally gave up. I tried taking the dang thing back to Lowes but it was past the 90 day return period. I only used in once and it looks brand new. I may have to order a new screw for the bowl to ever get the dang POS to work. At this point, I think I must have done something wrong as it won't even start (like yours did) and turn off immediately after using starter fluid. I'll keep working on it, and if I ever get it to work, then I will report back as to what I had to do. Good grief - this thing is junk IMO.

wow...so sorry for this. Is there a serial number / model number for the engine? That should give you a parts list that you can use to buy a replacement main jet. Let me know the manf/model/serial number and I can help search also.
@StreakingTiger
@StreakingTiger 5 жыл бұрын
Okay - Since I could not get the main-jet cleared so that anything (air or liquid) would flow thru it, and I drilled it to clear it out, I could no longer get anything to work. So - I ordered a new Main-jet ($11.00 + 4.99 s/h + 0.66 tax = $16.65) and installed it, making it as original as possible. But even with spraying Starter Fluid into the carb, it would not start like it did before I ever worked on it. Per this video, that meant it was not getting fire now. I took the spark plug out and it looked fine. I sprayed some starter fluid in the hole and replaced the plug. After 2-3 pulls, the washer started. Since then it starts on the first pull. This video was extremely helpful even though I am pretty "mechanically minded", so thanks a bunch for everything.
@StreakingTiger
@StreakingTiger 5 жыл бұрын
I forgot to add this: Before placing the Main Jet with the new one, I sprayed Carb Cleaner in the carb several times, so maybe that loosened something up after an hour or two. Not sure if this helped, but I just wanted you to know all the steps I took.
