I’ve had the old one Special Edition Holidays since January 2018 and have not charged it for many months in 2024, so I have to change the battery which is much cheaper than buying a new one. Don’t like to throw things away when they can be repaired. Thanks for the review guys, that was very helpful.👍

I found one of these (I think the 3) after a hurricane and it still works... it washed down a river and ended up in a swamp and I turned it on and it works!

i still have my Megaboom LE from 2018. still works, no issues. don't think I should even bother upgrading lol

You can replace the battery in the old one for quite a reasonable price.

I'm just upgrading from the original boom that I've had for 8 years. The battery has totally conked out, it'd be good if you could replace the battery because everything else works fine. Seems a shame to be getting rid of it.

I think I know more about the specs than you guys but you where so honest about your review and relaxed that I kept watching. so nice job. Lol I’m just messing with you guys . It was good to get your perspective. I have the old one and I think I’m going with the jbl xtreme next. Was gonna get the boombox 3 but maybe too big 😊

Haha, thank you! We went ahead and purchased the JBL PartyBox 110 during black friday, as the pricetag was very similar to the UE Megaboom 3, so now we'll have a "portable speaker" the size of a minifridge 😂

It has less battery because it’s always polling for a connection from your devices. That gives the app the ability to turn it on and off from the device.

So - I found one of the newer ones in a river bottom mixed in with debris from a hurricane - definitely was underwater and washed a good ways - it was in the water and mud for at least 2 weeks before I found it - still had battery and powered on!

I have the mega boom 3 I have the equaliser Bass 0.7, 0.9 Mid 1.4 Treble 1.9, 2.1👌👍👍So Glad I bought it

The drivers are higher quality on the old ones

Thank you. That does makes sense. The price for v3 is the same as v1 when it was new (at least at our location), and since the cost of a lot of components have increased significantly lately, it would probably not be possible to create something of the quality of v1 for the same price now a days. I guess Ultimate Ears had to cut the cost by choosing some cheaper parts.

The UA Megaboom3 was my first BT speaker. I needed one quick and didn't have time to shop around. It's just OK, and I feel that the JBL Charge3 sounds better. The only reason I didn't get the JBL at the time is that the stupid JBL has no clip or loop that you can hang a clip from! And the UA does have a loop. I take it to volleyball every week, and hang it from the net. C'mon JBL..... where's the loop?

I have 4 no1 and two no2 and one hyperboom and the first ones are best by a mile the no2 one have broke and leaves a ratterlig sount and the hyperboom is nothing to hype about i am not impressed at all of the new once or the hyperboom.
