I cant wait to see more of Stephen Thompson. For those who dont know, the guy is a kickboxing genius, and I think you'll be seeing his name thrown into title contention. As long as he doesnt lose for having a weak ground game like Sam Stout, cause he to could be in the mix if he could just get a better ground defense. Check S. Thompson out in K-1. Amazing stuff.

-Clean Strikes -Effective Grappling -Octagon Control -Effective Aggressiveness Effective Aggressiveness 1. This simply means who is moving forward and finding success.(scoring) 2. Throwing a strike moving backwards is not as effective as a strike thrown moving forward. this is enough for me!

None of you can even start to compare Condit to Machida, because when Machida backs up he knocks people out. Condit was backing up and doing very little damage. Diaz was pushing forward, controlling the pace and doing very little damage. Remember Kalib Starnes? Nobody thought he won that fight just cause he was able to avoid taking damage. Condit was avoiding the fight and didn't win the striking in definitive fashion.
@SuperJaceofSpades12 жыл бұрын
Honestly, Condit deserved to win that fight. He was very technical with his strikes and footwork. And also, a fight between GSP and Condit to me is more interesting than a fight between GSP and Diaz.
@DJK928812 жыл бұрын
I find it interesting that so many people are taking issue with the way Condit approached the fight. He attacked well and avoided playing into Diaz`s tendancies. It seems that to satisfy most fans, you have to use the Rocky method: stand in front of your opponent and block with your face.
@TheIce95man11 жыл бұрын
Condit admitted it, if he fought Diaz straight up he would of lost, if he fought him on the ground he would of lost, running and throwing leg kicks should not win a fight, he came there to steal the win, not fight, this is the Ultimate Fighting Championships, start acting like it!

Condit didn't run away, he landed his shots and then ducked the counter. Then he would come back and land more shots, then duck the counter. That's not running away- That's effective striking.

They say, "Fans judge a fighter by their last fight." They are right! I did not view Condit's way of fighting as 'running away' but that is what many people are saying he did and that is how he is going to be looked at when he fights GSP. Fans forgot the last 3 fights Condit fought before fighting Diaz. He knocked Rory MacDonald out at the last second of the last round, knock Dan Hardy out with a hard left hook and finish Dong Hyun Kim out with a flying knee. Fans easily forgets stuff like that.

Condit has never fought that style of fight before and now people R calling him a runner? The fact that he fought Diaz the way he did shows me that he highly respected Nick's ability in the ring enough to fight like he did. Condit threw 159 strikes & landed 151 strikes, Diaz threw 117 strikes & landed 105 strikes. Condit not only landed more strikes he also landed a higher percentage of his strikes than Diaz. What U witness was a very technical fight. Call me crazy but I enjoyed that fight a lot

did we all watch the same fight? Yes Diaz was the "aggressor", but Condit landed wayyyyy more powerful strikes with more precision and better combos. Diaz only had a few decent strikes landed on Condit, but truthfully he barely did any damage. Just look at how they both looked after the fight.
@Gamekingz0r112 жыл бұрын
Diaz is so talented im pretty sure that if he adjusted to condit in the beginning of round 3 he could have won that fight but he remained to fight the way like he started in the beginning of round 1.

I'm still mad about how biased people were towards Nick Diaz. When Lyoto Machida fights, people praise him for being good at evading and using good movement, and call his point striking style tactical and strategic, but when Condit uses the same stick & move tactic against Diaz, people call him a pussy and say he did too much running. How hypocritical can you be?
@jaspers10712 жыл бұрын
@DarkShinobiThe01 I'm just going to get straight to the poing -Carlos landed 151 strikes -Diaz landed 105 strikes -Carlos has 1 bruises under his right eye -Diaz face is messed up -Lastly Condit is actually a brawler. This was a weird fight for Condit fans to watch because his last 3 fight before this were way fun and he knocked his last 3 opponents out.
@l4mb0112 жыл бұрын
Condit is the new Edgar, what a shame. I prefer Diaz but I think Condit won the fight by split decision NOT unanimous. I think the problem with Diaz was that his corner was telling him 'yeh you're winning the fight' rather than being honest and telling him its really close, which might have made a difference to Diaz's urgency during the fight.
@samwrestle12 жыл бұрын
I don't care HOW many times Werdum asks me to repeat myself...I don't think I'd ever give him an attitude like that.
@foresthanke4412 жыл бұрын
It was a really close fight, so I'm not saying its crazy to think Diaz won, but it is crazy to say that Condit ran the whole time when he landed around 50 more significant strikes than Diaz did. He picked and chose when to engage, that's smart, not cowardly.
@Tommy983412 жыл бұрын
@MMAView No Condit would not have been penalized in this fight, cause he DID engage. He just chose the better time to engage then Diaz. Not engaging would be Silva vs Maia. Carlos threw punches and kicks (and various other thing), and landed, while at the same time, making it hard for Diaz to land his strike. That is not "Refusing to Engage"

You don't win a fight by going forward, you win a fight by hitting your opponent more and harder than he hits you. I don't think I've ever seen Nick hit as few punches as he did in this fight. Carlos won clearly. Just watch the fight stats.
@Tommy983412 жыл бұрын
Think of it this way, there are 3 criterias, effective striking (ES), effective grappling (EG) and Octagon Control (OC). Condit got ES convincingly, and you can say Diaz EG, but not convincingly, cause even though he gets points for a submission attempt, that means Condit gets points for defending the submission, plus he got top position. This leave OC up to debate, and this is where Diaz supporters say he should have won, but what does OC mean? It means you control where the fight takes place
@gonfrcks112 жыл бұрын

I'm a fan of both and just as Diaz shouldn't complain about how MMA works Diaz fans shouldn't complain about how Condit fought. Diaz's Corner told him multiple times to cut off and corner Condit but he just kept plodding forward, chasing rather than cornering. Diaz needs to stop whining so much and try to implement more than one strategy for his entire career.

People need to learn the difference between running and side-stepping. Running would mean that Carlos did just that, but he didn't he fought back, and landed WAY more shots, and if the only thing you Diaz fanboys can say is that those baby leg kicks did no damage, well, it also looked like Diaz's Stockton Baby Slaps didn't do much more damage then anything Carlos dealt.

Honestly, I don't understand how people are talking about Diaz possibly winning the fight. That fight wasn't even close. That fight wasn't Griffin vs. Bonnar TUF finale. That was more like Aldo vs. Faber in WEC 48. "Condit was running away and Diaz contr...blabla". Yeah, Condit was "running" and landing multiple shots on the way as he was trying not to do same thing that all fighters have done which is stand in front of Diaz and let him push you to the cage. Octagon control's one minor aspect.

i think the reason most diaz fans are pissed is not because we wanted to see two guys kill each other necessarily, but because we were told from CARLOS CONDIT himself it was gonna be a dog fight and he was gonna "bury" diaz. which didnt happen by any means even though DIAZ pushed the pace all 5 rounds and condit did the bicycle. you wouldnt want a car salesman selling you a car that goes 10 mph and gets 1 mpg after telling you how fast it goes and how gas freindly it is.just not how it works.
