Alex "Poatan" Pereira is a Brazilian professional mixed martial artist and former kickboxer.
Pereira currently competes in the Light Heavyweight division in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, where Alex is the current UFC Light Heavyweight Champion and a former UFC Middleweight Champion. Alex Pereira has been in the UFC for just two years. And now he has won championships in two weight classes.
Pereira stopped Jiri Prochazka via TKO at 4:08 of the second round Saturday night in the main event of UFC 295 at Madison Square Garden. With the win, Pereira captured the vacant UFC light heavyweight championship, making him the ninth two-division champion in UFC history. He was previously the UFC middleweight champion earlier this year.

The only way to beat him is to force him back and take him down and try to do ground and pound... but he's great at defence so I don't know. Can you take him down and hold him down for 5 rounds without getting your legs blasted and avoiding the left hook... or knees, who knows.

Some fighters are warriors others are businessmen. For me the warrior mentality is that one has unfinished business, no matter the opponents position, wants to settle it. Izzy isn't in the best position, yet Alex is offering him a fight. When Alex was chasing Izzy, he was saying he didn't do enough. It's clear to me who's the warrior and who's the businessman.

Chael Sonnen took the UFC belt to a candlelit dinner, hoping to spark a romantic connection. They enjoyed a delightful meal. Swept away by the allure of the night, Sonnen escorted the championship belt to its home. At the doorstep, eager for a romantic finale and with a twinkle in his eyes, he mustered the courage to ask for a kiss. However, the belt, playing hard to get, hit Chael with a firm, "Let's just be friends." Adding to the complexity, the drunk and coked-up Jon Jones entered the scene, and the belt seemed more than willing to let Jon demonstrate his submission skills, allowing him inside the house. Despite being friendzoned by the UFC belt, Sonnen pleaded for entrance and the chance to watch. The belt, feeling a bit compassionate, allowed Chael to sit on a chair, quietly observing from the sidelines. So there Chael sat, in the corner of the bedroom, a hopeful spectator in his own romantic saga, watching Jon Jones smoothly submit the belt repeatedly. In an unexpected turn of events, Francis Ngannou and Anderson Silva joined the octagonal love affair. The UFC belt, feeling generous, invited them to showcase their ground-and-pound. After three intense, sweat-drenched hours, Chael Sonnen, still sitting in his spectator chair, couldn't resist his hopeful daydreams. He envisioned himself cleaning up the octagonal aftermath, realizing, with a salty taste in his mouth, this was the only way he could come close to the UFC belt.

Love Whittakers quote "it's not he hasn't earned it one way or the other. He's lived in the ring" Yes he may have been fast tracked in the UFC but no one can say that man hasn't paid his dues. Well they can say it but it would inaccurate.

So many people were doubting him, claiming he was one dimensional and that kickboxing wouldn't help him at all. Look at him now.

Chael was kind of right though. Alex really was just THAT good bro. It's kind of a backhanded compliment, but its not an insult.

Izzy must be so pissed that this monster has come into the UFC, and basically relegated Izzy to being just another very good fighter. Unfortunately for Izzy, he will never match Alex's accomplishments.
