The songs that they do at this UG studios session (Addict with a Pen and Holding Onto You, plus this one) are the most emotional live performances that they do. I've been a fan for a long time, and I've seen a ton of their live performances on the internet, but these ones here, they're the ones that you can really feel the emotion of. Next to these, it would be the songs they did in the Live Room, but even those can't compare to these.

Soooo much YES!! I completely agree. I'm somewhat of a new fan. I had the opportunity to go see them in concert so I really started looking into their music and after seeing them live, I was IN LOVE 💛 Still, nothing compares to these UG Studios sessions. They're just so raw and full of emotion. It's almost heartbreaking but also incredibly relatable. 😢❤

Me too! Plus it kind of reminded me of the old Eminem songs.
I ponder of something great My lungs will fill and then deflate They fill with fire, exhale desire I know it's dire my time today I have these thoughts, so often I ought To replace that slot with what I once bought 'Cause somebody stole my car radio And now I just sit in silence Sometimes quiet is violent I find it hard to hide it My pride is no longer inside It's on my sleeve My skin will scream reminding me of Who I killed inside my dream I hate this car that I'm driving There's no hiding for me I'm forced to deal with what I feel There is no distraction to mask what is real I could pull the steering wheel I have these thoughts, so often I ought To replace that slot with what I once bought 'Cause somebody stole my car radio And now I just sit in silence I ponder of something terrifying 'Cause this time there's no sound to hide behind I find over the course of our human existence One thing consists of consistence And it's that we're all battling fear Oh dear, I don't know if we know why we're here Oh my, too deep, please stop thinking I liked it better when my car had sound There are things we can do But from the things that work there are only two And from the two that we choose to do Peace will win and fear will lose It is faith and there's sleep We need to pick one please because Faith is to be awake And to be awake is for us to think And for us to think is to be alive And I will try with every rhyme To come across like I am dying To let you know you need to try to think I have these thoughts, so often I ought To replace that slot with what I once bought 'Cause somebody stole my car radio And now I just sit in silence And now I just sit in silence And now I just sit And now I just sit in silence And now I just sit in silence And now I just sit in silence And now I just sit I ponder of something great My lungs will fill and then deflate They fill with fire, exhale desire I know it's dire my time today I have these thoughts, so often I ought To replace that slot with what I once bought 'Cause somebody stole my car radio And now I just sit in silence

I think this is the reason I fell in love with this band. The little things, like when Tyler shakes his head to stop crying, I do that now when I'm tearing up. This band has made me pick up their mannerisms, and I'm kind of grateful for that. And the way Josh looks up from his drum set and sees Tyler all teary and looks like he gets upset that his best fren is hurting. I love them too much.

you can tell that his songs aren't for the money or not even us. they are his thoughts and feelings, and he shows it. they are probably the only people on this earth that put there heart and soul into every word. the way he says some of the words with such force and power, you feel how he does. you feel and can see every emotion in this song. and Josh puts all of his being into it, he feels Tyler and responds with the beat to carry them both along. no they are not perfect, but don't trust a perfect person and don't trust a song that's flawless.

it's true, they get so emotional and powerful. they make me want to do something with my life, there music motivates me. I'm a competitive swimmer and I listen to lane boy and car radio to get pumped for fly. they are so emotionally driven and so talented they could win life if they wanted. Josh is more that a drum God, he is the nicest guy in the world and he is so caring it's sad to know Josh is single cause he is a awesome man. he is a gentleman and he is so cute. he definitely deserves to be friends with Tyler and Tyler deserves to be friends with Josh. Tyler is emotionally excellent, he is not just a magnificent majestic bean, he is a husband and he will one day be a father who can pass on his wisdom to his daughter or son. he will be able to help his kid with any problems they run into cause he has run through them all. and he is living breathing proof that anyone can make it through anything life gives them.

The voice crack when he says "I ponder of something great.." In the beginning.. For some reason it makes me want to break down. The emotion in this version is great. It makes me feel like I want to cry. Tyler gets so into the song, his facial expressions and everything. This band, man. I can't express how much I want to because words aren't enough.

people need to realize that the lyrics are literal. They're about being in a silent car and not being able to distract yourself from the darkness and demons inside of you. It's about over-thinking and dealing with inner pain that no one can see, that comes out when we're alone
@KevCky9 жыл бұрын

The overall lyrical meaning of this song is one of the most profound I think I've ever heard. It's something that someone else might just find annoying. Well, fuck. Someone stole my radio, but Tyler knows how to put huge emotional lyrics. I bet some of us feel like that sometimes. Like, if you don't put on another song on your ipod or on youtube, you go crazy from being in silence. It seems like kind of a first world problem when you think about it, but we all go through incredibly hard times in our lives, and sometimes, music on the radio in your car is one thing to help distract you. It doesn't even have to be a car radio, it could be any form of entertainment that makes us happy. I don't know, they're insanely talented songwriters and musicians is what I'm trying to say. Yay for twenty one pilots.

Gnarbro TaKa I don't disagree with your perspective, but I just took it to another level. I get the feeling of someone taking something away from you, something unreplaceable, and you're just left alone in silence ( solitute ) without that thing, person, relationship, or whatever that used to be a part of you, or used to be there. A loss that leaves you helpless and void

It's like something being taken away from you that helps distract/take away your problems. Like music for instance, it helps us escape from our problems, it's like forgetting them so we feel relaxed. But once our phones/mp3 players are taken away, we go insane, our minds are scary, that's why thinking can be dangerous. We are forced to confront these demons in our head.

First that I want to say is that I can make mistakes in this comment because I'm Dutch. Okay I love this comment too because my MP3/iPhone was taken away. But music is my way out if I'm scared, sad or angry. And I seriously don't know what to do then. So I searched for music everywhere. Luckily I found an old radio with an old cd. I was very happy and the day after I've got my MP3 player back. And a song like this is so beautiful I've got no words, I can't describe how beautiful this song is. Thank you twenty one pilots. And thank you for this comment.
@x3gamerchicx3598 жыл бұрын
Alles op haar Kop You are very welcome. I feel you man, twenty one pilots is awesome. Its scary for me to not have any music to listen, so when theres no music everything is silent and my mind gets so cluttered with these fears and weird thoughts.
@dennisbippus21698 жыл бұрын
so the big question is, should we shut off the music and face what is in our heads? or is music the savior from ourselves and we should blast that shit as much as possible to keep us all from going insane and letting the demon out?
@jellyfish17818 жыл бұрын
+Dennis Bippus face our fears because pushing them away with music all the time is not good because when we do get pulled away from our music or our distraction , the weight/pressure will be much worst. it better to confront your fears now than just push them aside.

Most people use music obsessively as a distraction from their feelings. Some may not even realize it. When we are depressed or angry we use music to distract ourselves from fully feeling these emotions. Rather than sitting in silence and allowing yourself to feel and think completely. Of course music is just one of many distractions we use. "I ponder of something terrifying, Cause this time there's no sound to hide behind" Im sure there are many meanings you can gather from this song but that is how it speaks to me. Learn to sit with yourself alone in complete silence, especially when youre going through hard times. That can be the hardest thing to do for some.

LYRICS: I ponder of something great My lungs will fill and then deflate They fill with fire, exhale desire I know it's dire my time today I have these thoughts, so often I ought To replace that slot with what I once bought 'Cause somebody stole my car radio And now I just sit in silence Sometimes quiet is violent I find it hard to hide it My pride is no longer inside It's on my sleeve My skin will scream reminding me of Who I killed inside my dream I hate this car that I'm driving There's no hiding for me I'm forced to deal with what I feel There is no distraction to mask what is real I could pull the steering wheel I have these thoughts, so often I ought To replace that slot with what I once bought 'Cause somebody stole my car radio And now I just sit in silence I ponder of something terrifying 'Cause this time there's no sound to hide behind I find over the course of our human existence One thing consists of consistence And it's that we're all battling fear Oh dear, I don't know if we know why we're here Oh my, too deep, please stop thinking I liked it better when my car had sound There are things we can do But from the things that work there are only two And from the two that we choose to do Peace will win and fear will lose It is faith and there's sleep We need to pick one please because Faith is to be awake And to be awake is for us to think And for us to think is to be alive And I will try with every rhyme To come across like I am dying To let you know you need to try to think I have these thoughts, so often I ought To replace that slot with what I once bought 'Cause somebody stole my car radio And now I just sit in silence And now I just sit in silence And now I just sit And now I just sit in silence And now I just sit in silence And now I just sit in silence And now I just sit I ponder of something great My lungs will fill and then deflate They fill with fire, exhale desire I know it's dire my time today I have these thoughts, so often I ought To replace that slot with what I once bought 'Cause somebody stole my car radio And now I just sit in silence

Jon Sparkman lol ya he probably used it but the song is still about suicide and depression
@Dylans3Tears10 жыл бұрын
Its a good theory but probably not true because he's not being metaphorical with "Now I just sit in silence" / "No distraction to mask what is real" He really means someone stole his Car Radio and he needs it back because the music helped him escape. At least in those segments of the song
@audionerd66610 жыл бұрын
The song was written and should be interpreted literally but the underlying tone just like the majority of his music is STAY ALIVE (...to be alive is for us to think...you need to try to think...)
