This is a video of all of the meals (except for two I missed) that I ate while I was in the UK and Ireland. I was pleasantly surprised by how good all of the food was, actually.

This is how we maintained the empire, we eat 3 large meals a day interspersed with about 15 half sandwiches

When I saw you guys at Glasgow you looked so tired after the show and continued signing away anyway. Thank you so much for putting a crazy amount of effort into the UK and Ireland tour. I (and probably we as a collective whole) really appreciated it.

It weirds me out so much to see Alex Day in old Hank and Vlogbrothers videos. I know that they're from before, but there is so much cognitive dissonance that happens for me when you combine * not great person * and * great videos by pretty great people *.

At some point around halfway through this video, I realised that I was currently going through the most poigniant proof yet that I will literally watch anything that Hank (or John) puts on the internet. I just watched a guy show me pictures of his food for four minutes and it's two AM, and I was still excited and entertained.

I also went across the pond to both the UK and France, ate everything I could put in my mouth (mmmmh butter, bread, cheese, steak, pomme frites, crepes, Croque-monsieur, etc) I can honestly say I changed nothing else about my life style while I was there other than drink mineral water as well, and ended up losing 35 lbs. It's definitely the food in the US.

It's quite common, every restaurant has at least 2-3 veggie-only meals (you may need to ask though) but our selection of "pick up what you want when you want" food is really varied and nice depending on where you go. Have fun :)

No. Our food is not bad :) . The 'kitchens' vary from country to country. My main experience in difference between American and Euopean food is, solely based on two visits to the US, that there is a lot more grease (example: toast soaked in butter) in American food. I had a hard time finding food in supermarkets that were fresh. We finally found Whole Foods, that was pretty much the only store where I could find things I wouldn't classify as fast food. Food at restaurants naturally vary a lot.

It got found out that loads of shops were putting horsemeat in their beefburgers, beef lasagnes, etc., even though they were advertised as containing beef. One 'beef' lasagne from a supermarket was actually 100% horse!

Mostly pre-made sandwiches are only bought in convenience stores or Gas stations for a quick on-the-go meal, but are poor in quality most of the time. Generally we either make them ourselves with whatever ingredients (deli-sliced ham, turkey, roast beef/anything that floats your boat) or we buy them from a restaurant.

Not sure what to make of the fact that we have decent food over here is classed as 'surprising' but I will admit that some of it is better than others. In other news, I've wanted to travel that route from Glasgow to London by train for a long time! I had to go to Glasgow awhile back and it was about a quarter of the price to fly there compared to the train fare, and that was for normal seats let alone your lovely looking first clas ones! I am highly jealous!

The problem with the horse meat is that it comes from eastern Europe and (in general) has more antibiotics in it than beef produced in western Germany. Also, the products with horse meat instead of beef are frozen foods, e.g. frozen lasagna. It is extremely rare to go to the store in Europe, buy a steak or ground beef and end up with horse meat instead.

A surprisingly entertaining video. I don't get why everyone has this idea that British food is supposed to be really bad, or bland, or something. We basically made meat stews for hundreds of years, then the British empire happened and we STOLE ALL THE DELICIOUS FOOD FROM EVERY COUNTRY WE OWNED. Then we felt bad about the countries and gave most of them back but KEPT THE FOOD.

we do, and when traveling they are a frequent thing to have for lunch, they are just so damned expensive here that most people don't bother buying them on a regular basis ($3.45 or more quite often) because we can make the same sandwich at home for a fraction of the price. and when we travel here in the states we generally just eat junk food anyway, only a little cold cuts on bread here.

This is actually a very smart concept for a travel video. Just focus on one thing that ties through the whole trip. If you wanted to do a really detailed video, you could just talk about stuff at each meal. Hmmm I might take this idea for my next travels :D

Usually when you buy a sandwich here you go to Subway or something, so you tell them what to put on it and then take it with you in some sort of bag. I'm in college right now and when we get pre-made sandwiches, they come in square boxes. But I don't think a lot of people actually eat pre-made sandwiches here, it's just not that common (although I wouldn't know, I'm not the typical American). I hope that helped a little bit
