"you're supposed to give way to anyone who is already committed" show me where it says this in the highway code? Getting to an obstacle first does not give you right of way. The oncoming car could clearly see the cam car and should have given way. If he believed he could clear the obstacle before the cam car reached the obstacle then you can continue but if you impede the oncoming car you have not given way as required. In this instance the cam car was travelling too fast and this may have contributed to the oncoming car not clearing the obstacle.

@@rjk69 the oncoming vehicle had started the maneuver when the cammer was passing the side road, and they were passing the second car in their lane when the cammer had reached the issue. Once a maneuver has started, they have right of way as it is safer to allow them to continue that to argue rights. Technically, the highway code does not dictate a right of way for any vehicle, only safety.

The dashcammer was going so fast that it wouldn't have been possible to make this judgment call. @rjk69 Жыл бұрын
Sorry but you are making up your own rules there. Nothing changes when there is no dividing line. The oncoming car was wrong for taking up the wrong side of the road way before the obstacle to intimidate the cam car. The cam car was speeding but the oncoming car was also at fault in my opinion.

@johnwilde4953 Жыл бұрын
I think it is worse than that and I find this driving behaviour very annoying. It is good practice to give-way if you are the vehicle who has to move across the centre line to pass an obstruction. However, in this case there is no centre line marking so it less clear-cut to start with - but more importantly the other driver arrived at the width constraint well before the cammer and can be seen to have committed to move, leaving the cammer plenty of time to safely give-way. The fact that the cammer was driving excessively fast certainly compounded the situation as it decreased the time available for the other drive to complete the move. Any sensible interpretation of the rules are clear here - if someone has committed to the move you have to give-way to them, regardless of how affronted you are. This drivers approach to 'tunnel vision' driving is the precise opposite of defensive driving. He quite literally driving in the expectation that everyone follows the rules as he sees them - and to hell with those who don't.

#7 What was the speed limit and what was the cammers speed? #12 Now you know why they set the limit at 20mph
@marksmanpola8055 Жыл бұрын
he wasn't speeding that much, u can tell the clip is sped up cause when he set off again and started doing 5mph it looked like 15
@scottvessey915 Жыл бұрын
@@marksmanpola8055 Given the way the bonnet dips under braking force, I would have to disagree. It is a residential area with street lights, and no limit signs on the side roads, so most likely a 30mph limit and a cammer doing well in excess of that.

#15 I actually think the cammer is really rude. Yes, she stalled. But we can’t all be as perfect at driving as John can we. But she said she was just checking because they were really close to them. Just say “nope, didn’t hit you” let them check and off you go. No need to be a d!ck about it.

No, she's not right. Yes, he didn't leave a safe amount of distance. By stopping and getting out of her car, she created a problem 100x larger than the one she was complaining about. Sometimes, people just misjudge their stopping distance. Maybe one in a hundred times, a person who normally stops a good distance away will, for whatever reason, stop too close. When that happens, a safe driver will simply notice the hazard, make sure they have a lot of revs on so they don't roll back when they bring the clutch up, and move off normally. If a person instead decides to stop their car in the middle of a road, get out of the car and start a confrontation, they're now in the wrong - the original stopping distance issue has become completely irrelevant in light of their completely unsafe, unhinged and now very obviously illegal conduct.

The woman cyclist reminded me of London, just coming up to Queen street station headed for the A2 doing 23mph as I checked saw the woman coming out of a junction to my left who didn’t look came straight out in front of me, I stamped on the brakes hit the horn and came to a stop under the bridge thinking I’ve just killed a stupid cyclist, went across my cab to get out and she wash beside me and I could hear her bike rattling as she was shaking that much. Got out to make sure she was ok and I hadn’t hit her, all she did was look at me got on her bike and rode off the way she came. To this day I have no idea how she didn’t end up under my lorry dead.

@@Garys1888The driver admitted they should have checked their mirror. The driver also said the girl wasn't confident enough to be cycling in rush hour. I have said she is confident enough to make that pass (if she wasn't confident she wouldn't have made it.). I don't need to be an apologist because confidence doesn't come into whether it is correct or not. You are an apologist for idiot drivers who don't check mirrors. I noticed you didn't mention the lorry is parked illegally on the pavement and on double yellows but if the cyclist had been riding on the pavement I would bet you would have moaned about it. Your biases are clear.

#9 So I assume the police were called to report a drink driver? I would hope that they did this. Zero excuse for being intoxicated and being in control of any vehicle. James Mcdonald. Please contact your local arcade and advise you would like to return your drivers license you would in a claw machine back. Not a chance you should be allowed on the road driving like a complete and utter bellend. To be hopes when, not if, you do eventually have an accident, it doesn't involve an innocent 3rd party.

@asharak84 Жыл бұрын
@@garyboyle695 kinda sorta, you are not allowed to cycle intoxicated (section 30 RTA 1988, highway code #68) but there is no set limit - if you're dangerous on the road you can be done for it though it's not directly that "you were over the limit" it's that you were dangerous because of it. There isn't a number of points that go on your licence for it either. You can just straight have your licence revoked if it goes to court but it's super unlikely unless you're really really doing something wildly dumb - you'd have to have gone past dangerous & reckless all the way to furious to be in much danger of that probably, though by that point you might be more concerned with the potential jail time.

3.50 That Motorbike rider is not just "in the wrong this time" ..... he's an absolute danger to everyone on the road and pedestrians and needs his licence taking away. He has an attitude problem that will get someone seriously hurt sometime probably quite soon! Most of the stuff shown on here is usually just ignorance or incompetence or distraction or just absent mindedness. Plus we all make mistakes at times. That Biker though was acting that way through sheer arrogance for others. That's dangerous, very dangerous.
