Awesome video Joe!! Greetings from California! I love wrestling spiny lobster out of their holes. They really make you work for it and lobster tastes so much better when you've earned it! Lobster season just opened up over here so I'm hoping to do lots of bug wrestling in the coming weeks. Appreciate the entertainment, keep it up!

Great video Joe, I love the sea and so miss spear fishing. Used to do it once a year in Spain when I went on my 6 week school summer holidays. I have never done any spearfishing in the UK but watching your channel makes me want to move to Cornwall and start again. All the best to you and your family.

Hello… How cold is the water? How many mm or what is the thickness of your wetsuit?
@thehobbyist32674 жыл бұрын
Are these not protected? I had them in New Zealand and only realised we had three in our waters a few months ago, but saw they were very short in numbers due to overfishing...is this true? I’m not trolling, just wanted to know
@JoePkSpearfishing4 жыл бұрын
Hi Lee. In one area of the south west it is 2 per day with the permit. And certain zones no commercial or recreational fishing for them is allowed. So some protection I guess

Great video! Just a shame YOU had to take that spiny Lobster! Its no secret that they were over exploited in the 70s and 80s A guy I know who fished in Cornwall proudly showed my a photo when he had caught over 20 of them. I know that they are making a come back which is good but I think it is way to early to start harvesting them even on a very small scale
@JoePkSpearfishing3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! It’s poor commercial management that is seeing them decline in numbers yet again. Not freedivers! You can do some research into how they are netted and unfortunately they have more than ‘started harvesting’ the poor critters, using medieval techniques with huge bycatch…
@kookvision92954 жыл бұрын
Illegal to take them in Ireland I think. I would have left it 1 in 8 years means population is not strong

@@JoePkSpearfishing population still has a very long way to go. Not suggesting you are doing anything illegal.
