I enjoy Olga’s remarkable voice! It is as soft, as energetic. Calm breathing and clear speech rhythm hold one’s attention without any strain. That’s why one can listen Olga much, much longer than other instructors and doesn’t get tired at all. She is a bright expert.

I've just spent 2 weeks on Duolingo where мати means mother, not "to have." I sure hope there are not many more of these. It's going to be difficult to unlearn this. I will have to know all of the other words in a sentence plus the context to know which meaning was intended.
@LetsLearnUkrainian Жыл бұрын
There aren't very many of those. Grammar, I think is the most difficult part but one can do it! Practice makes perfect 💙💛

Don’t unlearn it. Мати IS mother - but also the infinitive of To have.

Thank you so very much. There is a lot of information and examples to practice. I will be spending a considerable amount of time reviewing this lesson. Many of my conversations are in a professional setting, and although most everyone accepts with a smile my broken Ukrainian I noticed that you (formal) is not mentioned. Everything I have learned so far tells me you (formal) and you (plural) accept the same endings for imperfective (present tense) verbs. Is this correct? Once again, great job and thank you for taking the time and putting in so much effort. Your lessons are great! :)

You (plural) and You (formal) accept the same endings for all verbs and all tenses, they behave exactly the same! Thank you so much for watching, I truly apprecite the feedback you give on my videos!

Thank you for this wonderfully explained and very educative video. Could you recommend a site where we can find the perfective/imperfective verbs listed? I just started learning ukrainian language. One other thing puzzles me about some verbs. What is the meaning of «ся» at the end of an infinitive or conjugated verb? Eg «я прокидаюся» I wake up ?
@willemstom7582 Жыл бұрын
I would think it means they are reflexive verbs. I know for some we are the subject «я цікавлюся» and for some we are the object «мені подобається». If there is a fixed relation between such verbs and certain cases or prepositions it would interest me very much to have it explained in a video. Maybe I can find it already in your series about cases. Anyway thank you very much for your valuable work.
@LetsLearnUkrainian Жыл бұрын
Yes, you're correct - they're reflexive verbs. Or sometimes reciprocal verbs (when two subject exchange the same action with each other - цілуватися, обійматися, гратися etc.). I have a little video about that
I was so happy when I saw the notification! Thanks a million 💕

I am learning Ukrainian because I can relate to and truly respect the struggle there. As a US war veteran, myself, I still struggle with PTSD. For me it would be a dream to be able to live there in Ukraine and help out in any way possible. Thank you for all you are doing, this language is not easy to learn.
