Same as in English. "You, go do this!" "You all, go do that." It depends who your audience is.

It seems you are saying that in Ukrainian you can use gender words like "він" to describe non people things, such as a chair.

Thank you Iryna! There are several teachers of Ukrainian on KZbin. I think you present your lessons more clearly than others. Now that I have learned all I can from Duolingo, I spend a half our a night on your lessons. Many of the words I know, but its helpful to repeat after you, to learn the sounds more clearly.

@@LearnUkrainianLanguage English has Several examples of this also, Cars and Most Mechanical Devices are Feminine. Objects and materials can be Personified to have a Masculine pronouns. Example = He is a heavy rock, or " He is a heavy boy! " when referring to said rock . Or She's a real beautiful Gem 💎
