I'm brand new here, and I find your methods very clear, and easy to understand. Some of us know nothing at all about music, and thanks for not making any assumptions about what we know or don't know. I like your hair style here. It's away better than that man bun, which I hate as much as that B7 cord which I am battling right now.

Enjoy your lessons! I appreciate you saying the cords to the songs, I am blind so I cannot say to me the music so I have to memorize!

always great tips, I have been working more on dynamics, love the chucking technique! There is always so much more to learn. I guess its the journey that is exciting. Also I practice more with metronome. It's been freezing here in Tennessee, I'm counting the days till spring. I've had to do some hand stretches, my fretting hand was getting a little painful especially when I practice bar chords, they are so hard, I must be bending my wrist the wrong way. Thanks for all your lessons, couldn't have progressed this far without them.

Just a question Kevin: I would like to know when it is appropriate to strum all the strings or just the upper or lower strings. Thanks

If you teach the cords to Kiss an Angel Good morning, on a Baritone Ukulele. Try to work on that one.

I'm just starting to research which Ukulele to get and start playing. I've never played an instrument before and watching a lot of youtube videos to try to educate myself a little before buying. After watching this video, which is the first one of yours that I've watched, I noticed (and I'm not sure I'm asking this correctly) that your tones from your Ukulele are carrying out longer than I've heard from other youtube videos. It doesn't appear that you are hooked up to an amp, so I'm wondering how you're getting your tones to resonate much longer than I've heard from other Ukuleles. Is it your Ukulele, your Ukulele and the type of strings your using, an amp, the mic your using, or software??? The sound is amazing!!

Thanks for tuning in. I am using a Kala Elite Series tenor that has very nice tone and projection. The craftsmanship is very high level and the instrument really resonates nicely. We use a Rode mic on set which captures it nicely, but is by no means a top tier recording microphone for audio. The player and the technique also plays factor. Thanks for tuning in and hope you'll join me on your ukulele journey. All the best - Kevin | allforuke.com

I've never been able to use my index finger. I use my middle finger. It's more natural for me. So I use back of the nail on the downstroke and finger tip in the up stroke.

Thanks! These are really helpful tips. Regarding tip #1 (arm positioning) I was wondering - how far away should the uke neck/left hand be held away from the body?
@AllForUke3 жыл бұрын
Hi Barbara - I like to keep my left elbow a few inches away from my body. It will move further away if I’m playing on the lower frets 1-4 and closer as I travel towards the ukulele body.

Is it okay to use only your thumb for both up and down strum?
@chrispoppen55933 жыл бұрын
I've never put much thought into this. I find if I use my thumb, I touch the flesh. When using my index finger I hit the nail. Thank you for these tips. I'm trying new things, breaking old habits. You are a good teacher.

How do start with your index finger hooked (nail facing strings) and strum with the fingertip?? My nail automatically hits the strings in this position.. I can use my fingertip; but I have to extend my finger. 😩 Please help
