Kaohsiung is where I married my wife and is just a great city. Fongshan is where we stayed with her parents but the subway goes all over and we have a blast every time we've been there. It's a good diversion from living in East Texas. Go there. You'll have great fun!

I saw my favorite night market, I clicked! Thanks for introducing Rui Feng to the world! Regarding the fried chicken steak, I noticed you tried the Angel Chicken. There is another stall, more nondescript looking, inside that serves Devil Chicken. I personally prefer the Devil as the chicken is juicier, bone-in and the batter is more savory with a kick of spice. Do try it out next time!

Hi Luke! I'm a Taiwanese student currently studying in Canada. I think it's kind of funny how we switched places and are in each other's countries. Every time I miss my country, I always watch your videos to get a taste of home. As a Taiwanese, I am ashamed to say I haven't tried some of the street food you introduced in your videos. When I return, I will definitely try them all. Thank you for posting and being so open to my culture. Keep up the good work! Sending positive vibes from Vancouver 😊

Hey Luke! I am Taiwanese living in the US. I absolutely love your videos on Taiwan street foods. They make me homesick every time I watch them. 😍 I have one small suggestion to make and hope you don't take it offensive. As you probably have already noticed, the general population in Taiwan uses a lot of plastic bags. Will you please consider using reusable containers for the food you purchase? If that's too difficult to implement, please avoid using plastic bags by asking the shops not to give it you or reuse them best you can. In the case of Jipai (chicken stake) and the drink in your video, the shops will offer a plastic outer bag for carrying without you asking. But you could ask them not to give it to you. I know reduce the use of plastic will create some inconvenience, but I love my country and the earth. I want to do everything in my power to ensure my children and their children will have a chance to see how beautiful and clean Taiwan and the earth are. That’s the least I can do. Your videos are so popular, so I thought you could be a powerful influence and a powerful educator. Thank you so much for introducing my dear country to the world. Keep up the good work! 👍

Roasted cob price varies a lot north to south, urban to rural. Taiwan has corn available throughout the entire year. Some sellers argue the rent at the night market, some argue the coal, the fuel, the propane and the time spent on roasting the cob. The traditional markets sell cobs varying from 10-30 at most. Five years ago, around my place which is suburban you can still get 1 cob for 40NTD, 3 cobs for 100NTD. Now its 60 for 1 cob 100 for 2. There are over 100 for 1 cob in Taipei/big cities, and as cheap as 35-50 in rural areas.

Luke in New York City we have street festivals every summer and they charge almost 5 dollars for grilled corn. And if you get the Mexican-style corn that's eight dollars for one ear of corn. 250 is not bad considering it's hard to grow in Taiwan.and by the way it really did look delicious. I live in the lower Eastside literally two blocks away from Chinatown there are three spots that make the rolled ice cream and they are always jampacked. You are Sabrina should come into New York City and explore Chinatown I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Been to Taiwan a few times and this video is spot on. Most street foods will range from $2-3 USD. The blow torch steak that many places offer is going to be more but overall most can have a great food filled night for roughly $20 USD. My personal favorite is the fried milk. It's resembles bread cubes soaked in a condensed milk mixture and fried. They end up tasting somewhat like donut holes but much much better. One thing to look out for are the fresh fruit stalls, hey seem to be pricier then if you were to just buy it at a wet market. Also be very careful with iced drinks served at these markets. If you're a traveler, many instances your body isn't use to the bacteria and pathogens in the local water. It may take a while to get adapted otherwise you'll end up with upset stomach/diarrhea. I got sick once in Saigon and I believe it was the ice in the drinks that got me sick. Always buy bottled water or boil your water first. Nothing ruins a vacation more then being stuck in your hotel because your boo boo belly might act up every 15 minutes. I recommend keeping with you at all times hand sanitizer and chewable pepto-Bismol chewables or Imodium AD in your backpack or purse. Safe travels all!
