And check the aircon - usually quite expensive to fix too.

Great video. However I think a better understanding of what’s ok and fixable in older cars could be a good second video to this. Some of the items you said would be a walk away may see you never buying an older 4x4

Had a jeep dealership try to sell me a 2021 jeep latitude lux with a bad PTU. Thankfully my mechanic that did the pre-buy inspection caught it and saved me $25 grand
@indeepeterhopwood8106Ай бұрын
Receipts for work done also tells a story about the seller’s attitude. I had a person once bragging about having receipts for a new engine and transmission on a 4 year Hilux. I told him if you’ve wrecked an engine and transmission after only 100,000ks, I don’t want to to buy a car from you because it’s obviously been absolutely thrashed or never serviced.

Hey guys, this has been super helpful. Just have a question. On some 4x4’s I’ve seen recently there is loads of rust on the under carriage and in the wheel areas, but on others it’s way better and only rusty along the exhaust and/or drive shaft. Is rust there ok in a 4x4 that’s 10-15 years old, if the rest is really good? Cheers!

All smoke is bad. Ever heard of starting a car in winter? My car always has white smoke when the weather is cold and/or it's been raining, and there is nothing wrong with my car.
@lobsterwhisperer79322 жыл бұрын
I had an old XD falcon that would blow white smoke on start-up, but was fine once it got going. I think its sticky valves, which isn't the end of the world with old cars.

Used car service history doesn't tell you how many accidents it has been in, how much the vehicle has been thrashed, etc. If you can afford to buy new you should especially when it comes to 4wds. Don't be the sucker that buys someone else's problems.

Nothing beats a Unimog! However parking a Unimog in a shopping centre, multilevel or underground carpark is near impossible and the freeway experience leaves a fair bit to be desired, all things the Triton does with ease. I once hopped into the car of an acquaintance and within minutes had tightness in the chest and severe pain, hopped out for an hour or so, felt fine again and as soon as I was back in the car, the symptoms returned.
