Hey stealth. Keep an eye on your armor thickness. Many times the fore or aft armor will be upwards of 2 inches difference making the ship hard to balance. Your H-class for example had 7.3 on the aft while the fore had 6.2.

Secondaries get useful at 15km with 8-inch guns. That means I am well inside their torpedo range. Since that's not where I want to be I'm keeping this ship at max range. No secondaries required.

@@Stealth17Gaming I feel like Secondaries might still be a grand idea, in case the H-class is alone and has to fight back. 6's at the very least to engage the enemy at close range if the need arises.
@gangutbayern2462 жыл бұрын
As Stealth explained, well enough torpedo range. Though, not entirely useless. This is when lighter ships with torps would have to close in since torpedoes are slow. H-klasse goes in a "kiting" position, smaller caliber guns can engage those smaller ships, whilst being able to be outside of their torp range indefinitely.

When you said "Super-Deutschland" i was expecting a 20k ton heavy cruiser with 3x3 11'' guns, not an 18'' battleship ...
@raymartcarreon60692 жыл бұрын
The 20k ton heavy cruiser is the P-class cruiser moustache man told the Kriegsmarine to design. However, adding a third turret instantly turns it into a Scharnhorst class or lookalike, and also probably would put the ship well above the 20k ton displacement. However, when they decided to put diesel engines on the ship, it had to go over the 20K ton limit anyways because it's too small for diesels, and 32knots instead of 28 too... Basically and more historically, the Super-Deutschlands are just Deutschland but 20k tons and 32knots of speed, and probably extra secondaries and armor, still the same armament. Though I think they would atleast give it the SK C/34 version of 11 inch(instead of the C/28s they had.)
@tortenschachtel94982 жыл бұрын
@@raymartcarreon6069 Well, UAD allows for a bit of a different approach. I used the Advanced Cruiser II hull (heavy cruiser), set displacement to 20000t and put on 3x3 11'', 6x2 5'', 6x2 2'', 2x4 21'' standard torps, went with Diesel II, but only with 30 knots (that seems to be about the point where cost and weight start increasing exponentially) and the whole package is protected by a 12.2'' main belt, 8.5 fore and aft belt, 3.5'' main deck and 2.5'' fore and aft deck. I had to compromise with the aft tower and pitch is a bit high, but aside from that i like the result as cruiser killer and raider.

Hey, Stealth, I have an idea for a type of ship you could use until your new Big Sticks come down the slipway. Before the Great War, the Royal Navy commissioned several classes of coastal monitors mounting battleships-caliber guns for coastal gunfire support. It seems to me that you need as many big guns in the fight right this second as you can; why not build the smallest (i.e. cheapest) possible hull you can that can mount a couple good-sized battleship guns? They don't need to be that good, they just need to be a force multiplier until the new ships can be launched. Use it or don't, it's just a thought.
@Davidletter32 жыл бұрын
I feel like that Super Deutschland is to fleet battles what Monitors are to port defence. You've basically created a floating gun barge.

For the Plan Z ships, The Germans were fond of light shells, And they didn’t have any heavy ones in stock The rudder was unbalance (for reasons) (I know you might not want to design, just informing you if you didn’t know) It seems odd to have a campaign called historical, when the ships you design aren’t
@Bobis322 жыл бұрын
it was semi historical also the game balence makes it tricky to use light shells even though they should have higher pen than a heavy shell as velocity scales faster than weight

That would be true if his nation was Nazi Germany, but this game currently works on the premise that the German "Empire" still exists which historically had a Pre-Dreadnought battleship named Deutschland. So using the name Grossedeutchland may have been more accurate for the style of ship created.

Your reaction when you saw the build time… Naval strategy is built strategy… what you go to war with are pretty much the ships you will fight with. Unless you are 1930’s USA with 70% of your industrial capacity essentially idle.
@FrantisekPicifuk2 жыл бұрын
I feel like the build times need to be overhauled a bit. Building a ship, that takes 33 months to build almost feels pointless, because by that point, the war is likely to be over. Also by that point, the technology and requiremens for the ship could be drastically different. I get the ships take a long time to build in the first place, but I feel like this is one area, where the game doesn't need to be all that realistic.
@nathanielanderson742 жыл бұрын
I do believe that they intend for wars to be won than a section of peace so you can spend 3 years building a ship and it will be ready for the next war. as for changes of technology that did happen a lot with ships. I do wish that you could change a ship mid construction. like is you order a ship and you get new tec instead of having to build the ship then refit it, you could update the ship as its being build.
@davidmccormick74192 жыл бұрын
i mean historical every warship past the age of sail has been outdated since the day the keel was laid down, and during big wars most BB production was halted. its more efficient to build cruisers, destroyers, and submarines unless your the USA and have unlimited dock space and funding.
