Stealth deserves massive respect for frankly being the main voice on this game for years now despite not having any propper ties to the devs, no sponserships or anything. Big ups Stealth, thank you for tackling this rather sticky issue that is multiplayer and reporting on it the way you have.

This is exactly the problem I have. My ships wont fire torps. AI ship guns ignore all my defensive features like armor, compartmentalization, anti-flood, anti-flash and blows up my ships with tiny gun spam through use of "magic" to penetrate heavy armor. Meanwhile, AI torps rarely miss, fire with hyper accuracy and can fire at angles that ignore launcher limits often even firing through its own superstructure, towers and turrets. Meanwhile, autopilot doesnt work often. Enemy ships in the base game run away. In Multi as in base game a proper compass and proper contact reports with range, distance, bearing and heading which is basic to any naval warfare game are not given to us. Why not? I think that is so we spend more time in game wasting our valuable time trying to engage the enemy in order that the Game Devs playtime numbers get artificially elevated. In multi you cant accelerate time and that makes sense but its absolutely required in the base game and even then it isnt uncommon to have to spend a real hour just sitting there trying to catch up to AI ships that just run away even when they outgun you. They could eaaily fix this but they wont because they need to inflate game play time. The game still does not work as advertised and I dont think it ever will. Multi is not coop and base features just dont work. No thanks. I think I'll give rule the waves 3 a try. These Devs seem to hate me and think bug reports are "harassment".

I’m not a multiplayer person, but I was hopeful when this was first announced. There’s some serious balance issues, the decision to make everything server side with no private servers means no mods to fix said balance or provide a different experience. I know servers aren’t free and nor is development time but €$15 seems pretty steep to me. Overall a pass (for now) for me.

@@zaltheral Especially since it's just a needlessly-overcomplicated 1v1 multiplayer... Its not like you're running 200 players servers here, so it should have been p2p easily on current internet speeds... (heck some FPS games in the early 2000s had P2P/NAT)

Should really be able to host one's own servers. I thought that'd usually be the case for a smaller game like this. Shit, even For Honor had peer-to-peer matchmaking for the longest time from launch... But that was most likely a cost-saving measure 😅

I'd like to see a co-op campaign as well. Either as the same nation, an allied nation or a minor nation. It doesn't seem like there's enough content...

It's, as the Brits say, up to your tea preference. It's some player's cup of tea while it's not for the other players. If i bought the base game, i don't know enough players to buy the DLC as well as there would be no sense to do so. It's hardly usefull to buy a space suit if you never go to space.

I am not that suprised to hear they rushed the launch of multiplayer unfortunately. It fits the overall profile of the way these dev's seem to operate. Hopefully they can correct these seemingly minor issues fairly fast.

I'm not one to play multiplayer much, at least not just one-off battles. I like campaigns, and enjoy them with friends too. Maybe they could start a ranked system to try to get the competitive people playing? I don't know, needs to be fleshed out first probably.

I think that game would do well adding a 6 player campaign or 2 player custom battle multiplayer, the ottoman empire should be a playable nation, alongside the dutch, afterall Austria-hungry is a playable

It appears they still haven't fixed the visual bug from the MP beta where damages your ships inflict are in red and damages enemy ships inflict on you are in green (the opposite of the base game). Heh. I wouldn't have thought that would be too difficult to fix.

it needs some finetuning. That's for sure. For now the only thing that's holding me back from buying it, is 1v1. Just give me 2v2 or 3v3. Group up with friends and fight randoms.

I don't play multiplayer games and wouldn't purchase a DLC for it. I appreciate the experience of a deep single player campaign rather than a game trying to shoe-horn in a multiplayer option just to add features.

I'm very disappointed with the devs. Posting on the official forums about problems seems a waste of time. I've posted about problems and seen others post of other issues and I never see any response from anyone on the dev team. Not only would I not pay for any DLC I'm sorry I spent the money on the game to begin with.

i cant play uad anymore because every reason you already know about plus more than you speak about, ive been watching others play it for about a year since i stopped playing, and i cant really even do that anymore. such a great idea for a game, implemented so badly. its a shame. btw i got it when it was 60$ from the dev directly not steam

This game has the same issue as Arms Trade Tycoon. You can play it for a long while but you get more of the same bugs and issues everytime.

At least we can *hope* for improvements of Arms Trade Tycoon during the development process, and I think they have been at least a bit better at it so far. The design process of UA: Dreadnoughts in incomprehensible to me.

I decided to check-in on the UA:D MULTI-PLAYER DLC a few days ago. This Video is 1 Month Old at this time (1 October 2024). There has been some modifications, and improvements, since your Initial Video Postings concerning the UA:D MULTI-PLAYER DLC. Your Gameplay Style is very different from my Gameplay Style; and I am okay with that. However, there are some issues that you point out (which are legitimate); but, you don't try to work around; whereas, I would try other Gameplay Techniques. ISSUE ONE • MULTIPLE WARSHIPS HAVING THE SAME NAME Within the Initial Release of the UA:D MULTI-PLAYER DLC, Torpedo-Armed Warships of the same Warship Design did a Torpedo Launch Spam of all the Torpedoes on all of the Warships of the same Warship Design from The Lead Warship. You never tested out IF the Torpedo Launch Spam affected only the Warships within the Attacking Division; or, if the Torpedo Launch Spam affected ALL Warships of all the Warship Design within your Fleet. Basically, whether an Individual Warship (not in a Division) could make a Torpedo Attack without the other Warships of that Warship Design also make a Torpedo Attack through that Individual Warship. Once, it was revealed that all of the Warships of a given Warship Design had the Same Name, it was obvious to me (I having Computer Programming Experience) that if you had different Warship Names for each Warship of a Specific Warship Design; then, the Torpedo Launch Spam wouldn't occur. Within this New Video, it appears that the Torpedo Launch Spam has been resolved; but, all of the Warships of a given Warship Design still have the Same Name. I am surprised that you, and the other UA:D MULTI-PLAYER DLC KZbin Players didn't make the effort to create multiple Warship Designs of the Same Design; but, with different Names. ?Has the number of Warship Design Slots changed from the Initial Release Version to the Current Release Version? ?Is there a Nationality Warship Design Slots Limit? ?Is there a Time Period Warship Design Slots Limit? ?Is there a Warship Design Slot Limit for Naval Fleet Sizes? One of your UA:D KZbinr Pals mentioned that there was a Maximum of 12 Warship Design Slots available within the Initial Release Version. • Nationality & Year The Current Release Version seem to have Warship Design Slots based on ... • Campaign Era -- Pre-Dreadnought -- Dreadnought -- Modern ?How does the Warship Design Date Feature work within the UA:D MULTI-PLAYER DLC? Currently, I would try to design each Individual Warship that is to be in my Battle Fleet; so that, multiple Warships of the same Warship Design would have different Warship Names. More work; but, fewer Glitches.

Try War at Sea. Similar concept but you cant design the ships. You trade off the Designer for actual functioning combat.

TL;DR version: you can avoid this behavior for the most part by only playing with settings for 1910 or later, and avoiding the "heavy" cruisers that are actually holdover armored cruiser hulls. Some of the torpedo boat/torpedo boat destoryer/ destoryers can be a bit wet as well, but not really like this was. Longer version. To be fair, a lot of mid to late 1800s designs had issues with lack of freeboard, so in a way it is almost historically accurate. To more directly address you concern, the early "heavy", actually armored, and some of the "light", actually protected, cruiser hulls as well as some of the early game pre- Dreadnought battleship hulls in the game tend to also have issues keeping their decks dry. By the time you hit Dreadnought battleships and the associated early true light crusiers, this pretty well goes away on everything but maybe torpedo boats and destroyers and for some nations their "heavy", still actually armored, crusiers, at least until true heavy cruisers become available. The Torpedo boat/etc hulls aren't exactly the same issue, more pitch and roll, which is very much historical, while the armored cruiser hulls between 1906ish and the 1930ish or a bit later really shouldn't be a thing, as no one was historically developing armored crusiers then, with their roles having been taken either by battlecruisers or by the new(ish) light (armored) cruisers. It is somewhat unfortunate that the game devs chose to lump heavy and armored cruisers together, when in reality armored cruisers where closer to battlecruisers than to the later heavy cruisers born of the need to distinguish between the ~8in gunned and ~6in gunned Treaty (light armored) Cruisers.

@andreasplosky8516 yes, some of the hulls in the game still show similar issues, though the example in the video was more extreme than most and it doesn't happen all the time even on hulls that can have the issue. You can mostly avoid having to deal with this by selecting to start campaigns or only do single battles from 1920 or later and avoiding the few hulls post 1920 that display the issue, ie some of the "heavy" cruisers that are armored crusiers. Unfortunately, this doesn't quite completely avoid it, as it is possible the AI may use one of the few problem hulls and do whatever setup it takes to casue the problem and of course you're also missing a good chunk of content. Your other alternative if you choose to buy the game is to role play that ships that display this issue are failed designs, and go back to the drawing board to either refit to try to correct it or replace them as soon as circumstances allow. If it is something you can't tolerate at all, you'd probably have to start 1930 or possibly even 1940, which definitely cuts out a lot of the content,and probably makes it not worth it. OTOH, if you can tolerate it a little bit, I'd recommend watching some videos of pre 1920ish and see how rare or common it is and how extreme or not it tends to be to help you decide.

Multiplayer does nothing for me and frankly my interest comes and goes as far as signal player goes because I have at this point experienced 99% of the game. The remaining 1% is only really possible with either cheats or mods both of which are impossible to do until they stop having to update the game every other day.

This seems like everything I expected from these developers... you're 100% the target audience, and yet. I've given up on the game by now - the campaign is an utter MESS - but it can be fun to watch. And after all these years, the AI is still simply appalling at ship design - every play is just sealclubbing. The devs have done a bad job about everything but the manual ship design (which is fine). I expect multiplayer will only further highlight the broken parts of the game, too. I no longer buy anything from these devs - the campaign for UG:CW was also dreadful, and the AI for battles was fantastically bad. (If you complain about the game on the Steam forums, expect a ban - they have always been handing those out like candy.)
