Just a personal observation and anecdote from an outside female point of view, but in my experience so far - the most "masculine" men I have known have spent the least amount of time worrying about how masculine they appear to other men. 🤷‍♀

Andrew Tate is NOT an alpha male. An alpha male is self aware, empathic and mentally strong. He can read a room and know whom to avoid and whom not to antagonise. He is respectful, gentle and kind, but fearless when forced to defend his family. Mr Tate is simply a pathetic individual with delusions of grandeur.

That's such BS of someone who doesn't live in the real world. Yes, too much hubris can be obnoxious but someone who doesn't have confidence, who doesn't know their worth, and who doesn't try to make others aware of their worth, is just destined to be a loser. Yes, sometimes people will see your worth on their own if you're just THAT good but this is not always the case. This is ESPECIALLY true for men since they are judged on their success MUCH more than women are.

To be fair as a 28 year old Tate was a little late to the party to develop my views but as a young man it was instilled in me that; By virtue of me being white and male I am handicapped by an evil so great that I have no good value for the earth, only toxic masculinity, at university I had a drag queen come in to teach us how to be "real men" by living of the virtues of Harry Hay from NAMBLA, we were told that we should never approach a woman as that is harrassment. My whole life has been absolute anxiety of breaking out of those defined lines, what Tate does is he shows young men how to break out of that cycle, but to me its fake and exaggerated.

The Tate's aren't bullies per se, but they are abusers. They abuse the women they traffick. They abuse the trust of the men who pay them for "advice". The crazy part to me is, while their behaviour is heinous and destructive for others, they clearly have the capacity to achieve success without this - but their need to abuse others is going to have them sent to prison until they are old and frail. All completely forsee-able and unneeded. Totally wild, and completely deserved.

If all you know about him comes from this video, you really don't know anything about him. I have a bunch of criticisms (but they are VERY different) about him, but mine are actually true. I saw a clip of him talking about ‘stoicism’ where he 1.) looked very headed and angry, like he was about to punch a wall, and 2.) described the traits of a ‘psychopath,’ like ‘no emotion,’ and ‘doesn’t care about anyone but themselves.’ As an actual stoic, he missed the mark entirely. We try to regulate and express emotions in efficient and subtle way. We will feel them, say ‘I’m angry/sad/disgusted’ but it takes a lot for us to be visibly heated. It’s the same with positive emotions. I’m not going to squeal over getting a surprise discount, but I will express my gratitude by saying ‘oh thank you. That made my day’ in a calm way. But I still cried tears of joy on my wedding. I still cried tears of sadness when I lost a friend earlier this year. We still absolutely have emotions. We just reserve strong reactions for things that are a big deal because we communicate better if we don’t wear our heart on our sleeve and we don’t waste energy on the little things. I bring this up because Tate is one of the most emotionally unstable and immature public figures in the whole ‘self help’ universe. He always seems like he is going to get in a fight, and he makes a huge deal out of every little thing. He ranted about how he doesn’t like food because eating is too much work, or something. He rants about women not finding men like him desirable ‘anymore.’ He throws literal tantrums when people correct him and point out that he is not as competent as he pretends, and he would be broke if his family didn’t have money. But he somehow has a platform based around helping men ‘heal’ and ‘become stable and successful,’ so I truly question the emotional immaturity and lack of stability of his average fanboy.
@Strangingness
@Strangingness 9 ай бұрын
Yep, great point. The whole basis of Stoicism, is to seek self esteem from having morals working hard, and being a good person even when no one is watching for your own peace of mind and health. Rather than getting it from material things and social status. To be brave and strong, and to only be afraid of not having morals basically. Which is the complete opposite of Andrew Tate.

It is a gaslighting technique to confuse men who are in need of support. He speaks to the insecure part of people (especially specific to men) that feels let down by society, he is like a devil telling you to embrace your dark side and exploit others (especially women) to feel whole. However, at the heart or it, as he has a severe personality disorder, he does not care one bit about his followers, only what he needs to say next to fill the cup of his crippled narcissist personality disorder ego.. It’s just simple social skills. I worry that increasing numbers of young men are improperly socialised, for whatever reasons - I don’t think they get the best role modelling, and major male cultural icons tend to be absolute bellends to be honest, who exemplify the worst aspects of toxic masculinity. We need to get back to an ideal of healthy masculinity that promotes self esteem, acceptance of difference and allows boys to become they men they actually are rather than forcing them to conform to a very narrow definition of what a man should be. In that way, boys who don’t live up to the current unrealistic Chad ideal won’t feel quite so bitter and unfulfilled.

Great video, Dr. Grande. Mr. Tate also converted to Islam and has garnered a huge following among Muslim men because his misogynistic views are sometimes in line with some unique cultural misogynistic attitudes. Many Muslims have also addressed his online classes geared towards exploiting womens’ bodies while objectifying and abusing them. I am in my 60s and in my opinion, masculine men are strong-silently.

His sister won’t speak to him and is a very accomplished lawyer. It seems to me that this plays some role in his feelings of inadequacy, since siblings always struggle with a sense of competition no matter how subconscious. It’s extremely common, almost universal for us to compare ourselves to others, and this can lead to feeling envious or shameful if you’re not as academic, beautiful , tall, etc etc as whomever. It’s especially present in families, where we all would like to please our parents.

In my eyes as a woman, Andrew Tate comes across as a feminine man. There is nothing wrong with having feminine traits as a man; it does not make him less masculine. The problem with him is that he wants to be perceived by the outside world as something he is not. A lone and strong warrior. Warrior for whom? I don't know what role models he has adopted but it is not his father who was an abusive man towards him when he was a little boy something that Adrew claims to appreciate as an adult. Sad.

what's interesting about his message is that Tate took a lot of philosophies from other religions like Buddhism and Hinduism, twisted the context and wording of the teachings, and pass it off as his own Example: suffering, Tate constantly state men must suffer in order to gain resistance and become "alpha males" and dominate others One of the original context of this teaching comes from Buddhism concept of suffering, it talks about living is suffering, and one can get used to it and be a better person from there problem is that the original teaching says nothing about dominating others, it emphasizes on simply coming to term with the world and achieve internal peace

My armchair psychological analysis, just for fun: Tate grew up in a stressed dysfunctional family that culminated in a divorce. As a result, he did not receive the plethora of emotional attention and care a developing child needs to mature into an individuated self-regulating adult. Feeling the intense pain of abandonment, he put up walls early on to protect himself from ever feeling hurt again. Anger and sadness remained frozen inside of him. When emotions remain unprocessed, they sit inside you longing for release and become acted out. Tate took up boxing as a way to act out his anger. He also developed a hatred for women and made them a prime target of his acting out, perhaps because he felt particularly betrayed by his mother's emotional unavailability -- maybe in his youth he was more attached to her than his father. No longer able to feel deeply and vulnerably because of the armor he perpetually wears, he has no way of processing the pain and anger trapped in his body. His "cry-free" tears represent how the pain inside of him can find no real release. He instead copes by doing push-ups and being "strong." I predict this emotional constipation will one day kill him in the form of disease.
