Ultimate Challenge 230 Winning gameplay footage: Puzzles and Survival

This is just the gameplay footage for beating Ultimate Challenge 230 without commentary. I have to say this is probably one of the hardest challenges you will face in Ultimate Challenge. The main reason being because you have no possible healers (as of this video), and it is by far one of the few levels that actually requires a degree of luck. It is important to note that this is an identical battle to Ultimate Challenge 180, just with stronger enemies. MUCH stronger lol. I will post the winning strategy (if you can call it that) below. Phoenix, McCarty, Requiem, Scarlett, Leah
Pre strategy notes:
This may be one of the hardest battles in UC. It is also identical to level 180 as far as strategy, enemies and lineup goes. I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to have high level heroes for this battle. The enemies are so strong that weaker heroes just will not be able to withstand Ephraim's attack. So if you are really struggling with this level there is a good chance your heroes aren't quite strong enough. I ran this level hundreds upon hundreds of times. It was not until I had McCarty to red star that I was able to finally win by the skin of my teeth. Having all your heroes to red star can definitely make a difference. If you do not have a strong Scarlett this can also be very challenging. This is also one of the few battles that some luck will be required. As of the shooting of this video there are no red type healer heroes. So the only way to really get through this is by making sure Ephraim hits you as few times as possible. The only two ways to avoid his attack is if Requiem stuns him which only last two rounds, or have Leah still standing and have her skill block his damage.
The main strategy:
Requiem, McCarty, Leah and Phoenix are all pretty much essential to this battle. While the order of the heroes doesn't necessarily play a large factor in the battle I would move the heroes around in order sometimes hoping for lucky targeting of the mini bosses so they wouldn't kill off or damage my weaker heroes, but the attacks are random. However if you feel a hero is dying too quickly try putting them in a different spot to see if that helps.
You want to focus all your attacks on Ephraim. It is absolutely essential to destroy him as soon as possible. Always use McCarty first when possible because he boosts the attack of all allies. Often he is the last to fill his rage though so if he isn't ready don't hesitate to use your other heroes skills immediately. Leah and Requiem are going to be your key heroes for pulling this off. You want to hit Ephraim with Requiem as often as possible and HOPE that you can stun him often. His rage will fill eventually and you must be able to absorb at least one or two hits from him. One thing that lessens the damage from his attack is having Leah under her skills protection. Because Ulrik often goes before Ephraim the damage Ephraim does is spread across your heroes, with Leah converting all damage to only 1 damage this actually acts to reduce the overall amount of damage to all your heroes. In some cases if Leah has full or close to full health (and especially if the frontline enemies are gone already) it can be beneficial to wait on using Leah's skill until it looks like Ephraim's attack is about to happen. This will give you a chance at surviving. It will take many many attempts to have everything go your way and win this battle. Don't give up! You will beat it!
To summarize, make sure you target Ephraim. It will take some luck in getting Requiem to stun him. Use Leah as often as you can until the frontline enemies fall and save her skill if she has a lot of HP until Ephraim's rage is full and use her before he attacks. Level up your heroes! Try and try again! Good luck!

I finally passed this level today! McCarty +6 (6*) 350, Requiem +5 (6*) 350, Phoenix +3 350, Scarlett +2 350, Leah +3 350. I equipped 2 apex weapons and 3 epic weapons. A weak line-up when compared to all the line-ups that I saw previously pass it.

Been stuck on this forever. My heroes are way too weak and the cost of serum to upgrade is annoying. Thanks for this I will bookmark for the day my heroes grow up 😂

Yes this is one of the few levels that you can't "trick" your way through. You really need strong heroes to survive long enough to win, and a little luck. Don't give up on trying though. I have won some UC battles that I probably shouldn't have by getting all the right tiles with a good strategy. I wish you luck!

Great video. Aside from Scarlett, my heroes may be at a comparable level. Will give it a try next gear day. Can you do a video on master level campaign 3-9? I'm at a loss on what teams to try. Lady M seems to be a must, but even rage reducers don't help because the healer fills up way too fast

@@ValenceRing no luck yet lol. All of my heroes 310 & +5 red star except Leah (+3). Good weapons on all. One issue I’m noticing is Requiem’s paralyze effect is very unreliable. I need that to hit Ephraim to have a real shot at finishing this (get the opposing heroes to about 25% health on my best times). Seems like the rate of actually paralyzing opponents is very low

Ya the biggest drawback to Requiem is the random stun effect. You have to get lucky with it. Good luck!

@@ValenceRing I beat it today with Phoenix at 1 health & nobody else alive. Unbelievable. Speaks to how the margin for error is close to 0 on this one, literally lol. Took 500+ attempts. So happy to move onto something else!

what bothers me in this stage is that i hardly get any red tiles...so it's extremely hard

I understand. While the tiles are in effect random it does appear as if the color tiles of stacked heroes is proportionally less. So all red heroes means naturally less red tiles (since they are so much more powerful). The trick for this is to focus on clearing as many tiles as possible every round. In addition if your heroes start getting much stronger then it seems to allow for more red tiles as it also seems to consider your power in comparison to the enemy. The stronger you are in comparison the more likely of a win and the more likely the tiles also favor you. Good luck!

@@ValenceRing Ive played this level literally hundreds of times now. Lol! Thanks for the luck I def need it! The no healer struggle is real. I did notice one thing tho that every once in a while I can hit ephiram for a few turns and his buff bar is all in grey and doesnt go up at all for like 4 or 5 rounds. I thought one of them had a "buff blocker" just didnt know who. Random maybe?

Requiem can prevent a skill from going off for 3 rounds. Requires luck as it's not a guaranteed hit. Slightly better odds if Ulriks skill isn't in effect.

Im working on getting together a list of hero lineups and at least basic strategies for all level of UC 150 and up. I will say though almost everything under 170 can be beaten if your heroes are strong enough. Some of the later levels require strict strategy and strong heroes and as in the case of 180 and 230, a little luck as well. Keep trying and keep leveling up your heroes, I'll try to have a comprehensive list available for all the levels as soon as I can! Thanx for watching.

i dont see anything good about using mccarthy in arena, so why people use him there?

McCarty is actually a pretty amazing hero. I will say though he doesn't really begin to shine until he hits red star. His stats take a nice jump up at red star and he can become quite formidable. His attack is similar to Phoenix and he boosts all allies atk %. While I don't necessarily use him that often in arena, he can definitely be useful and since you can acquire him much earlier than Phoenix he is a good hero to level up early and use in place of Phoenix. You will also definitely need him for UC180 and UC230. lol

@@ValenceRing I agree. I just got him to red star, and with an Apex weapon to boot.. and I am finding him more used now than my red star Requiem, even in arena I have had good luck.

@@ValenceRing I also love his stamina cost down, now with everything, if i use hunt mastery, i can do hunt for like 12 stamina. I went from 18 down to 16 stamina without using hunt mastery in 2 days, as i spent some to get to 5 star, and then red star, so i am happy about that. I wanna work to get him to a +6 for the final weapon boost, 100 percent training speed is pretty nice.
