I made this on Saturday for my significant other :) It was amazing!!! So light and fluffy with just the right amount of decadence to leave you 'Mmmm'ing. I made some truffles to decorate the top too. I used a dark chocolate ganache, some dulce de leche, and some salt to make little hershey's kisses type shapes then covered them in cocoa powder! Your channel really has helped me gain some confidence in the kitchen :) Thanks for another wonderful recipe Tatyana!

hi tatyana, yesterday I baked this cake for my uncle's birthday and the overall look and taste of the cake was great. However I wanted to perfect the cake and there were two things I noticed and received feedback from friends ... the cake was a little dry and the butercream had an aftertaste of butter. could you please advise how this could be made better. Also the colour of cake was much lighter than yours.

Hi. for your buttercream frosting you don't use icing sugar. Instead you used condensed milk. will it hold its consistency to pipe flowers and will it hold its shape in hot climate .

Make sure the cake is completely cooled before adding anything else to it! Let the layers cool at room temperature. Yes, the frosting should be stable for a while. I recommend frosting the cake, refrigerating it for at least a few hours or overnight, then the frosting will be set for hours.

Hi! :) if you're making this for the next day, I do recommend refrigerating it. The buttercream can start to melt when left out for too long. I recommend taking the cake out of the refrigerator about 1 to 2 hours before serving to allow the frosting to soften :)

+Adrienne Surfus I think the batter would definitely fit a 18x13 pan. Keep the oven temperature the same and bake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. I haven't baked a cake in that size pan so I can't give you exact baking time.

That looks delicious. I'm surprised that you can bake a cake without fat from oil, butter or margarine. I was wondering if I incorporate butter in the batter with this recipe I would ruin the cake. For this particular recipe (sponge cake), if you add butter, the eggs will go flat. You need the eggs to have lots of volume for the cake to work. This type of cake is great if you want to soak the layers with syrup, or chocolate in this cake :)

I recently tried this (French) chocolate buttercream and it worked really well with the cake, although I found that I should have used UNsalted butter since it came out a touch too salty. It paired really well with the cake though so I'm definitely going to make this again, just with unsalted butter. :)

hi tatyana just wondering ,what brand of dark cocoa powder did you used? i have dutch process dark cocoa can i use this for the cake and the icing?

I usually use Hershey's Special Dark cocoa powder. Any kind will work great for this recipe

+Nurul Aiyani Aliphian You can use the same recipe, just split the batter between 3 pans. OR use 6 eggs, 3/4 cup sugar, 3/4 cup flour, 1/4 cup dark cocoa powder, 1 tsp baking powder
