A magnetic white board on the freezer door helps me keep track of what I have. Easy to eraser and add new things that are replaced. Dates can also be included so you don't have to open the door checking.

I had no idea about the freezing difference between medium and sharp cheddar but that certainly explains an issue I have been having with my sharp cheddar. I had pre-sliced cheddar and when I defrosted it for use on burgers even the pre-sliced version crumbled. I couldn't get it to separate into it's sliced to save my soul. I also freeze meals in wide mouth canning jars for individual servings down the road as needed. Excellent video!

I’ve been freezing our bread and it was a great way to use the entire loaf and not having to throw out the last several pieces which would be moldy or stale by the time we got to them. If we want toast, it goes directly into the toaster, if we want a few soft slices for sandwiches we take them out first and set them on the counter while we prep all the other ingredients and they’re defrosted and soft by the time we finish making the sandwich. 🎉

Thanks for watching! I also made a chest freezer video, if you are getting that type I'd recommend watching it. You can find it a little further down my page. I put lots of things in them, especially leftovers. Things like chicken orzo, Shepard's pie, chili, etc. You could also freeze broth or stock. I'm not sure if I have a full video on here about them, but I should make one.

I found English muffins on sale for 45 cents each so I grabbed 6 packages to freeze. I also grabbed croissants on sale. My partner has a sesame allergy so these are things that don’t risk cross contamination like most breads do now. We have a section in our freezer for bread items even if it’s homemade. I love having a specific area for each thing so we can check and see what we have easily. I also try to vacuum seal as well!

Every 12 hours for re-charging the freezer is really good info to have. Our power was just out for 5 days & we were able to recharge our fridge, nothing thawed in the freezer, so we should be good to go - but how many hours for a fridge/freezer combo? Ours is a bottom drawer freezer.

Love how your organize. I have been seeing videos where people actually write with a dry erase marker on the front of their freezer their inventory list. Maybe adding recycled 2-liter bottles of water would help your freezer be more energy efficient since you have so much openness..it’s really excellent to have in case of power outages as well as bringing the frozen water bottles when shopping in the warmer months to help keep foods frozen or cold and you have ice cold water to drink if ever needed in a emergency in your car. I love doing freezer meals I’m curious when you mentioned you didnt have buns for your sloppy joes I’m sure you have the ingredients to make them verse buying them. I love making my own bread products -I don’t buy any breads (English muffins, bagels, French bread tolls, sub rolls etc) except for sandwich bread just because my family prefers it since homemade bread goes stale so quickly.

@@TheCrossLegacy ~Oop..only saw a few of your videos and thought you just did YT. Sorry about jumping to conclusions. Went grocery shopping twice (this hasn’t happened in I don’t remember how many years- spent an estimated $500 between Samsclub, Walmart, Price Chopper, Hannaford, Shoprite, $1.25 store..ouch! This is the time of the year the can can sales starts with other rock bottom prices at a few stores-butter $2.99lb--Hamburger $2.99lb-Snows chopped clams $1.00 a can-I stock for many months to a years worth. I’m going to seriously think about your strict $135 per person food budget! It’s very doable for us because of stocking up on the sales in bulk. I will challenge myself for the rest of the month to not shop except for milk since my husband drinks a gallon in 2-days that’s roughly 12-gallons of milk a month just for him -add in myself drinking milk as of lately and cooking/baking it’s probably closer to 15-gallons a month..@ $2.99 a gallon that’s roughly $45 alone. What do you drink to keep your budget so low?

@@TheCrossLegacy -WOW- WTG! I need to do this too except I cant mentally drink plain water except when I feel severely dehydrated and nothing else to drink. I grow mint that I use for drinking but I used it all- need to grow more mint to put up for the winter months. No way will my hubby not have his milk or his daily 1-beer after work. It would have to be real desperate times for then I would cut something else out to at least have the milk- we have ways to make beer if needed be but milk is a priority in this household. Who knows what the future will bring it might be where we have a milk cow🤔

I just discovered your channel. I'm learning a lot and enjoying your content. I wanted to mention that I see you have Monkfruit on your shopping site. It's the version with Erythritol in it. You may already know, but there is some serious controversy with sugar alcohols, especially Erythritol. Something to do with blood clots, heart attack or stroke risk. My husband was a diabetic so I used to use this, but I've since switched to Organic pure powdered Monkfruit just to avoid it.

Hey! I just bought Mason Jars yesterday. Oh boy, are they expensive. Is there anyway to buy them cheaper?
@TheCrossLegacy20 күн бұрын
If you buy them from walmart they are normally around $12-14 per case, most come in a case of 12 except the 1/2 gallon jars which come in a case of 6. So they end up being around $1-2 a piece. When we first started doing this we used pickle jars for the gallon size which I also purchased at Walmart, ate the pickles then used the jars. Other jars like speghetti jars can be reused for food storage.

Exactly, just freeze bread! Why anyone throws bread out at the expiry date, or has bread go bad, I do not know. Apparently the argument is that bread frozen in the freezer ‘tastes different.’ If you can debunk that, it might help lots of people.
