The bit with using a slik touch pick instead to save on inventory space when mining ores is a GREAT tip, you tend to forget about space when you're mining Thank you.

I hate the 1.19 changes when it comes to mining ressources. For so many years I enjoyed tunneling on level 11 for diamonds, getting plenty of cobblestone and all the other ores in the process. It was relaxing and I just loved listening to a podcast or something while tunneling. The occasional collides with caves were ok, but on earlier versions I also enjoyed customizing my world to have everything BUT caves, because I wanted to mine parallel lines or if I built a mob trap I wanted no mobs to spawn underground to affect my traps efficiency. I also loved playing single bioms like stone beach, because it was a challenge to find a lonely tree for wood supplies, sometimes I spent like 10 hours to find a tree. NOW with 1.19 all this is messed up. Tunneling became useless or utterly impossible, because of the huge caves underground and certain things like coal were nowhere to be found anymore (in single bioms I have to run on the surface to find small patches of coal now and when I go underground there is almost no coal, while I need MASSIVELY more coal in 1.19 to light all the huge caves (honestly it is nearly impossible and tiring, some of these caves are never ending), especially when I want to make a mob trap efficiently - and I don't want to use skytraps all the time, having my farms high in the air just to avoid the spawning underground. It's annoying. Then also in the new world customization there are NO options to create worlds without huge caves - if I want that, I have to play a very old version of the game, but I am already used to new things. To make things worse - the new single bioms have no trees anymore on stone beach, deserts etc. (they existed, very rarely, before), that itself is tolerable, but now when it comes to torch making the only ressources left are mineshafts, so at some point you run out of wood (unless you go to the nether, find this "mushroom wood", but it's a pain to harvest this in a farm, needs plenty of other ressources like bone meal). Yeah, I could just go to creative and spawn one tree, but the magic is gone when "cheating". I think they totally ruined many types of the single bioms with this update like this and also the classic mining. Lighting these huge caves to make them safe, is a pain in the butt, there are way too many monsters down there which generate while you light torches and run around. I often feel like travelling through the nether, being in these giant caves, they just don't look like "minecraft" to me, not how being underground felt up to this point. Also those diagonal cracks which are around 2-3 blocks high are so annoying. It is hard to get through them, light them up etc. - out of desperation and protest I usually switch to peaceful mode once I end up in one of those huge caves, since I cannot carry around 2000 torches to light them up while fighting all the mobs. (And we all know how useless it is to clean the cave of mobs without placing torches afterwards) Then also they should have added more inventory space, since there are so many more blocks to farm, the inventory is filling up quickly with all kinds of useless materials - there were enough useless blocks already before 1.19, now those are everywhere. Ok, last rant - don't you guys get angry about finding all this useless copper when you look for iron? I think they look too similar to each other and I find like 20x more copper than iron these days. The new world generation might be a plus for a normal world, but for customized bioms it ruined the game for me. Instead of having votes for new mobs, they should spend some time, bringing back all the great customization features of the OLD versions (it was just great to switch off ores like diorite which I did not want, in the world generation mask, changing the sea level and man - those times were great)

Thank you for the thorough comment! I personally really like the new world generation, yeah ore spawning can be a pain sometimes and theres too much copper but overall I think it was a net positive for the game now I might be a little biased because I dont use custom biomes.

that's branch mining. strip mining is when you remove everything. branching is tunnels.

How old is the world? There was a time between 1.17- 1.18 where diamonds spawns were glitched and way rarer.

1.19 Bedrock here. Strip mined a 50x50 area, at layer -16 for gold. Here are the results... Copper- 100, Lapis- 62, Redstone- 46, Iron- 34, Gold- 16, Diamond- 8. In my opinion... Layer -16 is not good for gold. At least not this go 'round.

Second Run (50x50) Copper 0, Lapis 44, Redstone 79, Iron 34, Gold 5, Diamond 21 I mined next to run one. So add run 1 and run 2 , and it would be 50x100 that I strip mined. I'm still not seeing this as an optimum choice for gold.

Yo I respect the live testing! I didnt come up the -16 number. Its taken straight from the 1.18 ore distribution chart released from mojang themselves, I think gold is just rarer than other ores. Try in a mesa biome for better results. Reference chart: minecraft.fandom.com/wiki/Ore
