Had a fitting and tested PIng I210 and i500, Titleist T200 and T100, TM p790, MP20mmc and hmb, Callaway Mavrik pro. None of these felt really bad, top 2 for me was MP20MMC and i210. Finally went with the I210’s. Feel was great and i hit center more consistently. I shot 10-12 straight balls within a range of 10m in width and less than 5m dispersion on length, really consistent. These were not the longest, but had great backspin.

I got fit for i210s earlier this year. It's amazing how much forgiveness Ping can pack into such a nice looking profile. I get away with strikes that would cost me badly on my old P760s. Ping really are the masters at this kind of thing. Couldn't be happier.
@stephendibari50104 жыл бұрын
Great to hear... I think the i210’s will be my best pick. I need a forgiving iron which gives higher backspin and great feel.. From what i read and seen on KZbin this one feels almost like a forged iron because of the elastomer insert. Have you ever played in wet or dew conditions? These i210’s have the same Pearl Chrome 2.0 finish as the Ping Glide 3.0 wedges and the wedges barely lose 1,000 rpm’s in wet conditions
@kylejeffery894 жыл бұрын
@@stephendibari5010 yeah I'm an any weather golfer. I never struggle for spin with the irons or the set wedges. Whether that's down to the coating or not, I don't know but they definitely spin great in any conditions. 😯. THese are the exact 4 irons ill be using in my custom fit next spring ! You guys nailed it ! Reminder set. Really like the i210’s and the T-100’s, my guess they are the 2 most forgiving out of the 4 irons shown here.I play off a 2.4 handicap but that is mostly due to a great short game especially putting... My Arccos putting stats from 2019 shows an average of one 3 putt every 36 holes. My approach game is the weakest so a great forgiving players cavity will be what I’m looking for ... distance isn’t my concern, feel, looks, control and the ability to move the ball (draw & fade)is most important. Thomas and Drew you guys are awesome, one of my best channels along with TXG on KZbin.. and Rick Sheils too. Looking forward to this comparison test tomorrow!

@Thomas Campbell TM P-7MC is my favorite so far... that one shot where you dropped the club caused a wider dispersion... would’ve been better if you eliminated one outlier among each grouping of shots... typically you hit 6 each and eliminate 1 outlier, surprised you didnt do that here. THat would’ve really tightened the dispersion circle even more for the TM P-7MC and front to back & side to side would’ve been the best for sure. These will be compared to the i210’s next spring and maybe the T-100’s. Surprised the T-100’s didnt give a better dispersion circle on this test

It would be nice, as we all can't see the irons first hand with Covid, to also point out the actual offset in the irons. I don't like a lot of offset. Back in the day when investment cast irons were the rage, I switched from Ben Hogans to Tommy Armour 845's. I couldn't hit any of the irons constantly above the 7. They didn't last 6 months. So back to forged with little offset and stayed that way since.. Of course no club fitters back then. Also, point out for us lefties if the club is available left handed. I've recently bought the Mizuno ST200 driver and 3 wood from you guys. I wish Mizuno had the 5 wood as well left handed. Have a word with them. :-P Fwiw, i'm 69 years old with a 9 handicap. Keep up the good work.

I play i210s and have tested some of the others. i210s have enough spin to be very controllable and despite being a cast club actually have a nice feel. My take on the others P7MC I really didn't enjoy this club when testing it, although I was not swinging well. Much less forgiving than my i210s, didn't feel as good, on good shots it was no better than my i210s P770, tested it on same day as the P7MC and I really liked it. Definitely lower spin than my i210s and maybe 1/2 club longer than my i210s JPX921 Tours, the previous model 919 Tours were a big favourite of mine although the 5i was scarily small - I wanted them but my game was not good enough for them. 921 Tours are pretty much the same, limited forgiveness but wonderful when struck correctly. Sadly I tested them on a bitterly cold day so I got no feel at all from them! MP20 MMC - I nearly bought the MP18 MMC irons a few years back but could not control the draw with them. MP20 MMC is just better in every respect than the previous model. As with 921 Tours, when I tested these it was really cold so not much feel. These are great clubs Also I suspect I am in a minority but I really like the look of the X Forged, would love to test these. For me I am happy to have the i210s, however none of them are bad clubs. My second choice would depend on how important spin is for you: both P770s and MP20 MMC are fantastic.

How are you guys getting a ~1.45 smash factor with a 7 iron? Do you have some sort of sim boost on to bump up those ball speeds? If so, that's a very sneaky way of getting someone to buy any of these clubs with an implication that they'd also be getting ~180 yds on their new equipment
@chrischampion7274 жыл бұрын
Great test guys! You have really upped the quality in your videos in recent months. One question... The spin numbers are always super consistent. Do you guys use the little sliver sticker on the balls while hitting indoors with Trackman?
@2ndswing4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! Yes, in our tests we do use the silver sticker on the ball for indoor Trackman use.
@SirTomFoolery4 жыл бұрын
thats just how consistent Thomas's swing is.... Plus these are all CB's designed for a similar purpose. CBs and MBs always have a higher spin rate
@chrischampion7274 жыл бұрын
No doubt that Thomas is a great ball striker. My question was more related to the consistency of the spin numbers on Trackman indoors. I’ve spent a lot of time on Trackman hitting balls indoors without the silver dots on the balls. Every now and then you get a “flier” like a well struck 7 iron that flies 190 yrs which for me is about 20yds farther than a normal well struck 7. I use a forged CB (MP18 SC) and I get they’re designed for a higher more consistent spin rate. But Thomas’ spin is hardly high. If anything it’s on the low side with a 7 iron but that’s what you get with a shallow attack angle and 20-22* dynamic loft with a 32-34* 7 iron. But when you’re hitting the ball well over 100’ high with a 50* land angle that’s plenty of stopping power.
@SirTomFoolery4 жыл бұрын
@@chrischampion727 ahh yes. The long flying short iron. From my experience with a lot of the non-bladed clubs when you hit the sweet spot just right it can send the ball flying over the green. It's possible that it wasn't an error from the trackman and that you just clubbed that one! But the dots certainly help improve the track man's accuracy so it's also possible it was a fluke..
@SirTomFoolery4 жыл бұрын
@@chrischampion727 another thought, they are most likely using "standard" spin shifts... What kind of shaft are you using? maybe contributing to higher spin rates... Like i have S and C taper (both stiff) KBS shafts. The C tapers tend to produce 500 higher spin rate consistently vs the S taper on the same club head.

with a 7 iron it's not all about distance, to me the smallest grouping with one of the least amount of roll is the Cobra, when you take a 7 iron out of the bag most time you are going for a pin location, I want a club that's consistent with a small amount of roll, because roll is the hardest to control IMHO

The torquoise oval for the Srixon Z785 is disproportionately wide. There is a lot of space from the leftmost shot to the left side of the oval and a lot of space between the rightmost shot and the right side of the oval. Is this software programmed to misrepresent Srixon's accuracy - to make it look worse than it is? It sure looks like it! The Srixon oval should be about the same width as the Taylormade oval P770 (which looks too wide on the right). The Callaway oval looks too wide as well. It looks like it should be a little rounder than it it - less flat in distance. The Titleist T100 oval looks too wide on the left. The Mizuno MP-29 is too wide on the right. I am surprised that 2 numbers are missing: width of leftmost to rightmost shot and length of shortest to longest shot for each club. 2nd Swing does something on the used clubs you sell online: Every photo is the actual club that is listed - the potential buyer is looking at photos of the club he is considering buying.
