I bought the E63S. Love the car. So much raw power and torque. The AWD system makes a huge difference off the line. He is right about how Merc does so well in making a very easy daily driven car, but can turn into a monster with the flip of a switch.

DMS, a U.K. based tuner who do an up to 732bhp tune on the M5 have said every single one they've dyno'd has made at least 600bhp. It's not as under rated power wise as the E63, but it's still making significantly more than claimed. It's all good :)

Fellow M5 owner here. I don't think your heart was in that final decision. You wanted that E63 and you know it. Honestly, I wanted to LOVE the F10. I was super excited when it came out. But BMW just didn't hit the homerun I was hoping for. They got a close second base run. The smaller capacity V8 was probably surrounded by some economy scheme.. the exhaust issue more to blame by the "hot vee" setup than anything. It really screams EFFICIENCY. But at the same time, the AMG just doesn't have to try as hard to be more exciting. If the only knock I can really come up with is that it's AWD, then I'd say Merc has really, REALLY stepped up their game. Early 2000's was a dark era for the Three Pointed Star. But they've come full circle, and it's almost like the geek that no one wanted to hang out with has been hitting the gym and preparing for the high school reunion.. In spades..

Great review! Returning to your channel after a long time and glad that I'm back with this video. As for the cars, in my opinion, the E63 has more class and elegance. You can arrive to an office meeting in this and people won't think you're a douchbag. The E63 is biased towards an older audience while the M5 is aimed at the younger guys. Its really hard for me to pick between these. But I will say, that is one awesome looking M5! The first one I've seen in matte orange. Looks perfect!

I'll take the E63. To me, it looks much much better both inside and out, the quality, and especially the sound are much higher than the M5. I could care less if it handles 0.01 seconds slower on a track in comparison, the Mercedes is the better car where it matters, in the real world. I own a 2016 MB E63 S AMG 4 Matic and I think the Merc is better ;). Seriously, the Merc is A LOT faster than the standard F10 M5 and this video doesn't show that. First off, 0-60 for the Merc is actually 3.2 and not 3.5 (German conservative consumer rating). The E63 runs 11.6 stock and hits 0-130 in 12.8 seconds. The F10 gets the Merc in high speed freeway roll races (past 115-130 mph due to the AWD drivetrain drag). Don't believe the BS about the older MCT 7 Speed Transmission, it still shifts gears in 1/10 of a second. All in all, the review is pretty good and I mostly agree. I love the fact that people think it's an old man's car until I paddle downshift to stop lights and hear the exhaust pop. I paid A LOT for it, but I'm loving every minute of it. The M5 is nice but it just looks like a big M3.

Luis Landa Yeah. Here's what you need to know. 1. Only two 4 door cars have ever gone under the 3 minute mark at VIR. They are the Cadillac CTS-V and the Cadillac ATS-V. Not the RS7. And not any 4 door Mercedes, not the M5, not the E63. not the RS3, RS4, RS6 or RS7. 2. The CTS-V has more horsepower than the RS7. 3. The CTS-V has more torque than then RS7 4. The CTS-V WEIGHS LESS than the RS7. By a LOT. So which laws pf physics are you planning on breaking in order to beat the CTS-V with an RS7? Because it's not going to happen on this planet. The CTS-V is the fastest, highest performance 4 door production car on the planet.

Look at the list. Find the M5 and the M6 and the 2016 CTS-V (mark III). You're a dumb ass, the E63 is much faster. The CTS-V runs 60 in 3.7 seconds. The E63 S runs 3.2, I know, I own an E63 S. Like the M5, the CTS-V is quicker on a roll but looses from 0-130, 0-60, 1/4 mile, and handling. The suspension is nuts in this car and I'll run circles around it with the AWD.
