I have the Arc, 1 Sub Gen 3 and 2 Play 5s in the living room. In the bedroom I have a Beam Gen 2, 2 One SLs and a Sub-Mini. I like both set ups but the living room set up sounds amazing for both music and movies. Having both systems allows me to contrast the two in real time. I initially had the One SLs in the living room then decided to buy a second play 5 and pair it with the one I already owned and the difference was remarkable. I set the surrounds to full mode as opposed to ambient for music playback so that they’re on equal footing with the Arc and fully utilize their great sound stage.

I currently have this system, I started out with 1 sub and 2 ones, Than I traded out the ones for fives, about a week later to my surprise the MGR from the store called me and told me that he had a brand new gen 3 sub that was an opened box that he would sell me for $400, I flew down there and grabbed it, Well I have never yet heard a system wired or not that sounds as good as this, I cannot wait to get home each night and watch a movie with my kids. For anyone that wants the best, look no further, do it. You wont be disappointed, I also bought a new Sony 75 inch full array TV that supports Dolby Atmos, I am in heaven. I have had alot of people that know great systems over and so far everyone agrees that it is mind blowing.

I have the same setup, this setup puts a smile on my face every time I watch an action movie. I have a sub in the front and one underneath the bed when big explosions happen the way the bed trembles feels like I'm I the explosion myself. People don't know what they are missing till they can experience it. It might be a little overboard but when I go see a movie at the theater it doesn't excite me any more than it use to before I got this system.

I'm a huge fan of Sonos. It replaced my downstairs Bose set-up matched with an 80" screen. Since then, I replaced my upstairs theater room with this set-up in white and dual subs and projector with 136" screen. I also have Sonos One S in most rooms and 4 placed outside around the house. I think you missed one very important feature...it's the eco system and ability to stream music to any Sonos system or speaker. Talk about yard day and house chores with music playing! You can share the DJ efforts with those you give access to to play their music playlist. The sound is incredible, and I always get asked what kind of speakers I have. You won't regret buying these.

I have updated my Sonos system (ARC+ 2 One-SL and 1 sub gen3) and added a second sub. The Sonos sub brings a great update to the whole listening experience. I did notice that the sub is somewhat directional. You always notice where the sub is in the room. By adding the second sub, this phenomenon has completely disappeared, and I experience a more homogeneous baseline.

So in setting up my Sub for my traditional 5.1 Setup in my living room that uses a receiver and a bunch of speakers, I learned that it’s best to configure the Sub where it blends in very well. You probably just need to dial it back a bit so it’s assisting with base but not dominating and drawing attention to itself. Placement could also be an issue. Sometimes just moving a Sub to a different location will solve that kind of problem to your specific listening position and the acoustics of your room. I find most people do the opposite and they crank that sub way up and want to feel the boom and bass and it can get ridiculous. But my tweaking and learning about how to setup a Sub was learned mainly for music listening. That sub should be balanced with the other speakers otherwise it’s just thumpy and overbearing and ruins enjoyment of a good mix. I also went with a non ported sub that lends itself better to music where the boomier ported subs are for that deep cinematic bass.

I have this setup and I absolutely love it. I just wish Sonos would add full DTS support, I’d even pay extra to cover the licensing cost if necessary just to have that capability when playing 4K Blu-rays. Most new 4K Blu-rays are coming with Dolby Atmos audio tracks but I’d say more than half of the slightly older 4K Blu-rays have some form of DTS audio whether it’s DTS:X or DTS Master audio. It’s kinda insane not to have full DTS support on a system that costs over $3,000. I’m aware of the upcoming DTS support update but that doesn’t support DTS’s higher quality lossless audio tracks that are used on 4K Blu-rays so there isn’t much of a point to it in my opinion. I’m also aware that you can run LPCM but for whatever reason, that doesn’t sound as good to me; idk if that’s a placebo effect or not. Any thoughts would be appreciated. 😎

Wow this setup is overkill bro. I would’ve never thought of getting 2 subs or even getting 2 fives to go with the 2 subs unless I was living in a mansion.

You can never have enough bass first off, and secondly you can play your music at a much higher volume...you must be 60 years old.

I do have a 5 in my kitchen which i absolutely love. So getting two further 5’s would be an awesome system. Thanks again. I look forward to seeing your next video.

Excellent review Jonah!!! This Sonos system sounds like a system that would be worth the wait if buying one item at a time to get the best sound quality. I was really on the ropes to buy this system or the Nakimachi and I have no regrets other that I really liked the white Sonos Arc. The white was very bougie to me. Glad you put another video out and hope to see the next one soon. ✌🏽🤙🏽🖖🏾👍🏽

@@sebasr4526 hey if you have the know how of setting up a complete system it’s totally up to you. That’s takes serious research and knowledge of how to set everything up. Sound bars are easy set ups and everyone is a fan of certain systems. I love the Nakimachi 9.2.4 and there literally a whole fab base on Facebook dedicated to Nakimachi. I’m not going to hate a brand to justify you like a certain sound bar. It’s an easy set up outta of a box and people like the easy set up. My parents worked for RCA and I bought RCA. I bought RCA until I could not buy it anymore but I don’t hate Japan, China, Korea just cause they had better brands. Jonah Mathis is an honest guy who has an honest opinion about sound bars. In my opinion this guy is the best on KZbin. In my opinion I like the Nakimachi 9.2.4 better than any other brand but it’s my opinion and it’s a free country here in the USA 🇺🇸 so like what you like. Get off Sonos nuts 🥜

@@sebasr4526 shitty car comparison. I’ll take a Toyota over Mercedes any day. In fact it just proves Sonos is better. Toyota has great re sale value/ so does Sonos. Toyota’s reliable, made to last/ so is Sonos. Toyota is cheaper to maintain over Mercedes.

Thank you! Very nice video. I am planning to buy the same Sonos system. I think better put 2 subs at the front instead of front side speakers. I think it will help arc with front side voice. You will fill front side voice better. What do you think?

I currently have the arc, 2X Sonos1 and 3rd gen sub.. As Tim "the toolman" Taylor would say.. MORE POWER... I got another sub and 2 play 5s on order lol.. If it's overkill, I'll just setup another system in my upstairs living room

You're ment to have the 5's upright when in a pair, the sound from the tweeters can mix up in the middle and can affect how you perceive the sound and how its ment to be, i have the 5's as surrounds as in my system (playbar, 1 gen 3 sub and pair of 5's) and i have them upright, with the sonos logo on the outside to keep the tweeters further away from each other

I am contemplating setting up Sonos in my home for multi room audio. I really don't watch TV or Movies so my main interest is hearing clean quality music in all rooms AND most importantly window shattering bass. What I would like to know is if Sonos Subs can meet my needs, compared to my current sub which is a 10" down firing on about 600w. I'm considering 2 Fives + 1 or 2 Subs Gen 3 in my main space with Sonos Ones in all other rooms except the office which will also get the Five + sub treatment.. I just simply can't find a good place to demo these things so I can hear for myself. So speaking on Bass alone, how do these Subs perform? I'm also used to running 1500w 12" sub in my car that will literally shake the windows out of the cars next to me.
