I have this one but charging voltage goes up to 15,4 volt in 2 min then charger stops.

@@chielS123 That means battery has all the charge it can take and shuts charger down. A faulty battery will do this as it cannot take a full charge.

Nope, I have the same one at home. When there is no battery attached to the charger, it's just doesn't give any electricity to the cables. Furthermore, I found this video because my car battery voltage has dropped down to 6,5 V which makes the charger to "think" it's a fully charged 6V battery and doesn't allow me to start charging it as a normal 12V one. 🤦‍♂️

@@ch3ch2ch2cho just curious, did you by any chance think it was also a 'portable' jump starter, i.e unit could be charged and jump start a car in the middle of nowhere, judging by the size and weight of it, I unfortunately did, no where on the box, or instruction manual does it make that clear 👍

@@ch3ch2ch2cho you could trick that charger into thinking it's a higher voltage by using a good battery attached to the depleted one, to get it to start charging. Leave it for a bit then detach the good battery from the depleted battery, worth a try anyway, most likely a youtube video on it somewhere...

Hi these units are built fairly solid and should last a while IF you don’t abuse it. I charged battery to 100 then did alternator test. It gave 87. I’m interpreting this as alternator not charging, correct?

You can EASILY check your alternator with a simple multimeter. Just start your car and use the multimeter on your car battery. It should show over 14 volt. If yes your alternator is working. If still around 12 volt your alternator is dead and need to be replaced.

Yes, unfortunately, it's a jump starter, but has to be plugged in, certainly caught me out. I bought it because I thought it was a portable power pack as well as a charger, certainly big and heavy enough to think so, but no where on the box, or even the instruction manual, does it make this clear, and I think a lot of other people have been caught out by this also. Excellent build quality, useful, but not exactly what a lot of people assume it to be, cost me €54 👍

@@jamesgallagher1992 I think they brought out another, that included a jump pack separate from the unit, but priced accordingly, more expensive. So double check that unit because the unit I checked was 6 - 8 months ago 👍

Yes it will stop charging when full. Its protected against over-charging. I bought it at the Lidl shop for 45 euro.

You can use it to jump start a car BUT you have to have the unit plugged into a mains power supply at the same time. It does not the same as a chargeable jump starter that you could use to jump a car without having access to a mains power supply.

A battery with less than 2 volts output? ...Meaning a fully drained battery. The above charger will only see 2 volts and above

very dissapointing product. there is no boost charge, it hasn't the option on it anywhere, and it says that it has 3 charging amperage. That is also not true. The box states 5,7,and 17 amps of charging but the charger has only 2 options, slow and fast. How is slow? which current is it? 5 or 7 amps? And don't get me started for the charging error. When it reads voltage of just 13.1 v it cannot charge the battery, it AUTOMATICALLY GOES TO START MODE and not charge mode. shitty product.

It has to be connected to a battery of over 2 volts before it gives a reading, safety feature to prevent sparking.

When the 12V battery is completely empty and shows less than 6V, the charger recognizes it as a 6V battery and does not allow proper charging, charging it with a voltage of 4.2V and shows on the Display that it is a 6V battery and fast charging is not possible. Bought today 14.11.2024. and I was already disappointed.
