Great tips and tricks We are trying to do foliage "ropes" running on the long tables. Haven't been at a wedding with that, so thought it was a fun new idea. And then everybody gets equally the amount of flowers 😆 We're not having any flowers on the cake. But we're having a danish strawberry tart so the strawberries will be cut and look like small flowers😍 Loved the pictures during the video!

Omg I want ALL of those suggestions 🙈 my budget says no though. I think we’ll just do personal flowers like the bouquets for 2 bridesmaids and me, some flowers to go in our hair, buttonholes for the groom, ring bearer, best man and our dads and corsages for our mums and my grandma if she can come. Thinking about doing them for the close friends/family that will be singing and doing readings for us as well so they feel like part of the wedding party too. Apologies if you mentioned it in the video and I missed it but is it also an expectation to give a corsage or buttonhole to the registrar that’s marrying us as well? And the wedding coordinator? Then they can keep them as a thank you afterwards. I think that would be nice but I don’t want to offer it and them find it really weird 😂 After the ceremony I’m thinking of putting my bouquet and the bridesmaids bouquets in vases to decorate the cake table or guestbook/cards and gifts table at the reception so they’re not in the way when we’re eating or dancing but also still appreciated! I’d like my bouquet preserved somehow after the wedding I think but not sure how just yet. I’ve seen lots of options online to choose from. I’m going to gift the bridesmaids bouquets to them so they can enjoy them at home in a vase if they want or if they say no I’ll take them home and make them into smaller posy’s so I can give them out to some of my favourite clients at work (I’m a carer) I have already asked a few care homes/retirement complexes if they’d take any flower donations after my wedding and unfortunately they all said no. They get a lot of offers of funeral flowers apparently and they can’t say yes to everyone so they just say no to everyone to keep it fair which seems a bit silly to me. I was told its also a contamination risk due to covid which seems a little far fetched 🤷♀️ Apparently most “organisations” won’t allow flower donations because they don’t know where to put them or feel they won’t be appreciated by enough people etc (I tried to offer some funeral flowers to a sports club where the wake was held and they refused to take them and said I’d struggle to find somewhere that did so it’s best to hand them off to friends and family instead of anywhere else as a charitable gesture) It’s always worth asking though I guess. I just hate to think of any flowers going to waste after the day! I think I’m going to do fake flowers for the rest of the decor like the centrepieces and any floral arrangements on the signage etc so then I can sell them afterwards. I’m not always a fan of fake flowers though, sometimes I think they can look awful so it’s very hit and miss. Any advice on this would be appreciated! I’ve seen people talk about cheap ones on aliexpress and shein bring surprisingly nice but I feel a bit iffy about those websites, had some bad experiences in the past! I’m toying with the idea of getting potted plants for my centrepieces, I’ve seen those small pots of flowers in supermarkets and garden centres for under £10 each and then I could put them in terracotta pots that I can paint or put ribbon around 🤔 some of them come in nice pots already even. I was even thinking about growing my own but that’s probably too much pressure as I’ve never planted anything before 😂 I’ve been collecting wine and beer bottles, glass jars, tin cans, corks, cardboard and brown paper from packages and basically anything else that I think could potentially be used as decorations somehow but I have no actual plan on how to use any of it 😅 just determined not to spend a fortune on decorating! Im collecting and drying out petals from any bunches of flowers I’m given to use for my confetti and also picking the occasional wildflowers on my daily walk which I’m putting in a flower press so any advice or ideas on what to do with those to decorate would be awesome! I love the idea of personalising and decorating the whole space but I think it’s best to have just a couple of displays that have a wow factor rather than, say, little bud vases with flowers in spread throughout the venue. It would probably cost the same and I don’t think that would be appreciated as much as having a really nice welcome display and cake table and card/gifts table. People notice way less than you think anyway, I need to keep reminding myself of that! It’s far too easy to spend an absolute fortune on a wedding isn’t it!! Looking back at pics of my parents wedding and my aunts and uncles back in the 80s, they all kept it pretty simple but it still looked lovely despite the dodgy quality of the photographs and they’ve all been married over 30 years. Got to keep remembering my wedding is only one day and I want it to be pretty and stuff but it’s really not that deep. Soooooo hard not to get caught up looking at extravagant floral displays on Pinterest though! 😏💐

I don't agree with its not deep, that one day should be the best day of your life. You are entering into what should be a lifetime with the person who you love and loves you back like no one ever has. It's a commitment that should not be taken lightly, and the one day you get no matter whether you have an extravergant wedding or not, to live your dreams.

@@andreabeaven4106 I mean the material things aren’t that deep. The day will be special even if everything doesn’t look like my perfect vision because I’ll be marrying the love of my life. Obviously it would be great if everything is beautiful and goes according to plan and fingers crossed it will! But it’s just easy to get carried away worrying about the aesthetics of it all and it adds up to a lot of money! Just trying to keep reminding myself that although it’s the most extravagant celebration I’ll ever have and it should definitely be something I’m going to love, it’s not worth going into debt and it’s silly to stress about the little details because the less money we spend on the wedding the more we will have to put into our house and our wonderful married life together for years to come
