It's December 19th, 2020, the final segment opener of VA's 2020-21 Waterfowl season. Ol' Greg and I are back at it and after geese on a golf course to help the course owners and manager knock down the resident and migratory goose population that plagues their property. With a hard freeze-up over night, most of the slack water these fat honkers like to travel to and from has skimmed over, providing for both excellent decoying opportunity and odd bird behavior. Join us on his hunt where we beat up the geese and I shoot my limit in sub-par! Thanks for watching! Be sure to like, comment and subscribe! What choke are you using for this video in your 10ga?
@AmericanArmsChannel3 жыл бұрын
Carlson's Improved Modified for the Browning Invector 10 choke system. They list it under their "Clays" line, but it's a standard extended choke with a single row of small ports. very good choke for the money. You can find it here: www.choketube.com/choke-tube-product-details-R.php?Browning-Invector-10-gauge-ga-Choke-Tubes&mf=33

Drake would it be practical at all to do a comparison between the federal 10ga foster slugs and the WWO heavy hitter slugs? Loved this video too btw
@AmericanArmsChannel4 жыл бұрын
Yes, a demonstration comparing the WWO HH slug with the standard Fed Foster slug load is on my radar. Ammunition availability and expense is the limiting factor at this time. I have been grabbing up federal slugs when I find them but their expense and lack of availability has my supply of them very low. Once i have enough of them to spare and I resupply with a box or two of the HH slugs I will demo accuracy out of my G10 with a full choke, penetration, etc.

@@AmericanArmsChannel That'd be wonderful bro and one more question, do you think the 10ga HH slugs would be a good defense against grizzly bears?
@AmericanArmsChannel4 жыл бұрын
@@BuRn1NgAnUs I do believe so. The high antimony and tough design make it a very deep penetrating slug that should be capable of putting down any animal in North America.

I own a 10 Gauge browning BPS and i love it but i can't seem to find a nice long range choke for it for goose hunting

What shot type and payload are you typically using? Most often Full and Extra Full constrictions in the Browning Barrels are ideal for 50+ yard work, however many large pellet steel loads do better in IC, MOD, and IM chokes. Last season my G10 was paired with the Carlson's IM (.750") choke and worked very well out to 50 yards with the BOSS #1 and #2 loads. This year, I also have the .720 Terror Tube in my bag of tricks for true long range use with excellent patterns with steel and bismuth. I would say that a good place to start for "long range" use in the 10 is very dependent on the shot type and sizes you are intending to use. However, chokes such as the SRM .720" Terror Tube are shoe-ins for good long range patterns. Briley and TruLock both offer Extra Full chokes with constrictions from .730" to .740". Rhino Chokes also are reported to be very good performers.

@@AmericanArmsChannel I use 2 shot only out of my 10 gauge , and for my 12 gauge I use a long range choke with number 4 shot or 3 shot and it patterns amazing out of my 12
@MartellOutdoors3 жыл бұрын
And thanks man I'll try that terror choke with my ten and see how it goes this year, I appreciate it! My early teal/goose season starts September first so I'm getting ready soon for it.

@@MartellOutdoors I would recommend that you increase shot sizes for the 10ga if you are shooting geese at ranges over 40 yards. The efficacy of the #2 steel pellet past that distance on heavy birds can be dubious at best come late season. To me, B or BB is more appropriate for 40 to 55 yard kills, and I would use 1-5/8oz charges of it at that. If you truly want to go to a long range choke and load combo out of your BPS, and I mean shots consistently past 45 yards ), go to a bismuth or denser shot material with a .720" to .740" constriction choke tube. That will provide you solid to exceptional pattern density and the energy and penetration needed to reliably down and outright kill large geese. I'm a fan of the BOSS 10ga loads, but there are a number of options out there. I hear you on the season's coming fast. I will be in Nebraska for teal opener this year and I am very much looking forward to it. Hope all this has helped place you in the right direction for getting more out of your BPS.

@@AmericanArmsChannel right now I currently use the full choke that came with my gun, and with 2 shot it's not bad but where I hunt my close shots are around 35-40 yards geese just dont like where I hunt. I mainly shoot ducks but we do have geese fly over once in a while. I currently use Federal Speed Shoks 2 shot and their fairly cheap compared to other brands
