I’m an avid hunter. I live in CA. 43 years old and only shot and harvested 1 wild hog. Because it’s all private property and no one allows hunting. There just pests until you want to hunt then it’s like $600 guided hunt! Lame!

If you search with various state ag agencies, and are willing to travel, you'll find a farmer or rancher that will appreciate the help controlling feral pigs. Before I aged out, I hunted properties in the midsouth, all the landowner wanted was help, and usually I shared the meat with them, and that included the assistance butchering, and often it would turn into a community barbecue and feast. Be patient, persistent, and willing to travel.

Even with humans mowing them down its not enough, they need a natural predator to hunt them day in and day out, and even then, its would take years and years to maybe get it towards getting under control.
