I just want to say that you are by far my favorite creator on KZbin and thats saying quite a bit considering the amount of time I spend watching YT lol. I admire you're positive attitude even when things go wrong. I'm also absolutely amazed at your willingness and ability to just dive into stuff head first even when you aren't familiar with it! Mad props and if you ever want to take a road trip bring that thing to southern Iowa we have some pretty awesome party lakes lol

Just finishing up a rebuild of a 24' SunTracker Party Barge. I'm retired & it's been a learning experience. New carpet, bimini, reupholstered, etc. For some reason someone removed the water system for the sink, used non shrink wrap butt connectors, incorrect gauge wiring & thought any material fastener would do. Sink now has water, rewired 99.9% of boat. In critical areas joints are soldered & double shrink wrapped. Oh & I've spent a small fortune on stainless. My intent is to sell her which should be on the market on about 30 days. Has been a test of my mechanical, electrical & wood working skills. Totally enjoy your rebuild videos.

Unless you are hitting the ideal max rpm (probably 5500rpm for that motor) at wide open throttle with a light load, your prop is pitched too high or too big diameter. You’ll be causing undue stress on the motor’s internals. I would correct it. Even if the 25mph is fine for you, you’re putting too much stress on the motor.

Exactly, you want the lowest pitched prop that will not allow you to exceed max RPMs for that motor. Most pontoons that’s a 11p or 13p, or 12p or 14p in a four blade prop.
@DeadphishyEP3
@DeadphishyEP3 2 жыл бұрын
@@mikebennett9356 its a big boat so id go big diameter with maybe a 14 or 15 pitch, it is a 150hp. My 150 pontoon runs a 17 pitch 14" diameter 4 blade Merc spitfire prop. Tops out at 40 mph loaded, will do 45 empty with a 19 pitch 3 blade ss prop. I love 4 blades on pontoons because top speed is never as important to me as getting up an going and maneuverability. I also like the idea of aluminum, one because its a lake, and two it will flex and that can work to your advantage in allowing the motor to get up to RPM

Fantastic work Zach. I believe the engine was shaking just not bc of the prop but bc it's only a 150hp & the boat is heavy, especially with 12 ppl on it. Me & my dad have a 25ft long / 8ft wide tritoon, a 250hp engine was required bc of the weight of the boat. Still Fantastic work. I'd buy it but no money 😕. Our boat costs just over $72,000.

Weld on a couple knee braces on that platform, it will stiffen it up a good amount with very little work needed. Could be tubing, or even just a flat plate in the corners above the speakers. Just adding more section to the corners will make a significant difference, as of right now it doesn’t have any lateral support system at all just cantilevered tubing essentially. Adding even a few inches of welded plate knee bracing in the short direction of the boat and it can act more of a braced frame.

Lowering the pitch of the prop gives the boat more power and better acceleration. A higher pitch makes the boat go faster at the top end, but needs more power to run within a safe RPM operating range.

Great finish to the party pontoon. Suggestion for wet bar buttons. Cover them with cell phone screen covers. Walmart sells good basic covers for 88-94 cents. Cut it to fit the buttons. You should do that to all electronic buttons ,especially in kitchen items, such as microwave or refrigerator. Printers and electronics, too. I would buy your boat, if I had money to do so. God Bless You and your family. Going to visit Sam soon?

25:32 - To clarify, under FL law, the vessel operator can consume alcohol (even while operating the boat) as long as they are not legally intoxicated while operating said vessel. One of the unique laws that was ambiguously written and for some reason hasn't been updated. EDIT: Should also mention that just because one may blow below the legal BAC, they can still get a BUI if they fail the field test. It's always best just not to drink at all if you're the operator.

Absolutely hands down the party barge I'd love to have to take down to the Whale 🐋 Harbor / Islamorada sand bar party with my friends and have a blast. The bar is a really awesome design. I'd have everything to camp on one of several small back channel keys I know about from the 10 years I was living down there in Islamorada. Including screens and tarps to attach from the deck up to the upper deck and forward to the bow to convert that area into sleeping quarters.

Hey man, just came on here to tell a story. Just a couple of hours ago, my family and I were going boating. Everything was working out fine, we launched just fine, the engine started just fine, etc. When my dad was pulling up to us so we could get in, I realized there was water coming out already and the bilge pump was on. I told my dad but I don't think he was paying attention as we were loading all of the towels and stuff on. The bilge pump has a detector so if there's water in there it automatically tries to dispense water, we didn't hear it as the engine is pretty loud. Apparently, my dad checked to see if the plug was in and it was, it just wasn't tight enough. The plug barely in made it to the trip to the gas station, and it made it back somehow. As soon as we launched, the plug fell out and no one noticed as it was under water. We drove over to our cove and we were deciding whether to anchor up or not. Fortunately, we didn't because my mom realized that there was water on the ground. My dad unhooked the engine top and realized the entire bottom portion of the engine was full of water. I had never seen him panic so much before, he was almost shaking. He didn't realize why there was water coming into the engine, he didn't know if there was a leak or what. Thankfully, the boat still turned on (We shut it off after we arrived at our cove) and we tried to rush back to our boat launch. My dad had the throttle to max and it wasn't going any faster than 15mph. He was stubborn at first to pull over to this guys dock as he thought we could make it to the launch, but the engine was acting up and he pulled over to this guy's dock (he lived on the lake). My dad ran over and knocked on the windows asking for help, there was a guy and he said he had something that can help and he miraculously had this vacuum of some sort that sucked out water. My dad got into the water at the guys' dock and realized the plug wasn't there. The bilge pump was clogged with stuff and we didn't know. The guy thankfully knew where the bilge pump was in the engine and started pulling out gunk that was in there for god knows how long. The bilge pump started to pour out water and my dad had his finger holding the plug the entire time so water wouldn't come in. The guy had a plug that somehow fit and my dad put it on and tightened it as much as he could, it was the perfect size! That guy saved our boat, otherwise the thousands of dollars and hours of hard work my dad put into trying to make the boat look nice would have gone to waste and the boat would've sunk. There were huge wake boats and my mom, brother and I were trying to hold the boat away from the concrete so it wouldn't crash into it. This huge wake boat went by us and created massive waves, it hit us unexpectedly and the boat scraped on the concreate. Luckily, there was only 1 area where a lot of scratches were, some other minor scratches, and 1 scratch that got in deep. We drove as fast as we could to our boat launch and loaded the boat up, we all made it out and safely. We tried to buff out all the scratches but it wasn't coming out. My family and I are still shocked that we could've just lost our boat. Somehow, we saved it with the thanks of that man.

I actually get sad when you finish your boat because I love watching you work on it because I’m also in the middle of redoing my boat we have a fisher with a three-quarter inch plastic flooring but what we did is we went out and bought two other boats really cheap took their metal roofs off and we’re going to put it on ours once we do the flooring then we’re gonna put solar on it but looking at yours at the final outcome is amazing with the second story the only thing I thought about was too bad you couldn’t put a steering wheel in the control unit upstairs that would be a great way to drive the boat no you always looking for something to do that’s creative maybe on your next boat anyways great job you’re painting your work is amazing for such a young kid!

I don’t have the attention span to read all the comments but great as usual. I noticed you mentioned the deck a couple of times. If you add a bow shaped brace (like the sides) across the front so it contacts the middle and reaches either side, it will improve the side to side stability that it appears that you are noticing.

The shaking could easily be cavitation from using the wrong prop. Most often caused by a miss matched to engine prop. Or an out of balance or damaged prop. I saw that a few times when I was living down in the Keys on other boats my boss would by to fix up and flip. I learned a lot from Don about working on and operating boats.

Is the radio at 7:42 made for marine applications ? I noticed that there is no weatherproof cover / enclosure around it to protect it from rain, water, weather and such .
