4:08 Super Mario RPG made it work, the thing is bowsers proportions and stance don't allow for a clean way for him to reliably transfer power into the uppercut to make it look right. The trick is for him to do it with his front arm where he'd do the first hit, then a cross followed by an uppercut so he's using the shift in weight to make the momentum look natural for him.

Ah, as a long time modder (about 4 years at this point I think though I mod Brawl/Project M instead of Melee because the latter wasn't even explored well until recently, which I'm glad for, while Brawl modding has a decade under its belt), modding things is both fun and incredibly frustrating, but it gives you full creative control over things (within certain limits imposed by the game and knowledge of it obviously) and you don't have to care about things like balance or whatever the hell people think, you just do whatever you want (as long as you have the skills for it). Though I generally make completely new characters (which so far have been very good or broken), I do like giving some vanilla characters dumb things once in a while. One of my mods gave Ganondorf's useless Warlock Punch greater knockback, low launch angle and he moves forward pretty far (which also helps him recover a bit), making it less useless, but more importantly more fun (I just took Azrael's Black Hawk Stinger and slapped it on Ganondorf). My favourite kind of moveset mod outside of custom characters is just small things like letting Snake walk with his box on, which was implemented into P+ later. It's natural and not intrusive. Your "can't animate him without everything clipping" remark still applies to Brawl, by the way. His model there is still awful, I absolutely despise it. The one time I tried giving him Tager Buster (BlazBlue version of Potemkin Buster), I gave up 20 frames into the move. I just want proper grapplers in Smash, man. Not even Incineroar is one, what the hell? 5:49 you probably forgot to actually make him turn in the coding, it's not handled by animations AFAIK.

I know this was posted a year ago, but I think that teleporting move fits well. Ultra Instinct wouldn’t put the user in SD range. So it makes sense he’d turn around instinctually to not commit an SD. Really cool thing here tbh. It’s not just broken, but in a skilled/useful way. You do have some talent, especially for something that seems to be a personal why not challenge. Oh yeah; A(n) UI Mewtwo could be an interesting thought experiment!
