Really well done. A few years ago when taking a solid works class in college I made the whole Main gearbox assembly (including Pinion assembly) in solid works. You'd be surprised how many of those bearings seals and bolts you can find on McMaster Carr. Someday I hope to build it as well.

Very, very excellent workmanship. Keep those polished component parts well from corrosive environments. In Hawaii, my parts will have to be painted if I did an excellent work like you. Hawaii has salt laden humidity that will attack aluminum. Keep it up on your rotorcraft build.

Thanks Anthony Capanas. I have not planned to go to corrosive environments yet, but really appreciate your information.

That's really nice sir and at last I lake the way you edited the video for fixing those bolts.thats really nice.but in my openion you can youse a bigger dia milling cutter insted of using a small end mill which would save you a lot of time

Wow, awesome work! A few months back I finished builng a cross kart and I am now looking at building a similar helicopter. I have a few questions from a fellow Swiss citizen to another: where would you use it? Are there any laws preventing you to flying around with it and going places? Thanks in advance. Also can't wait to see it finished 🤩

Hy Diego. Thanks. The main motivation for me at the moment ist the build of this project. There is a website you may want to check out if you not allready know its: www.experimental.ch Thumbs up and all the best for your projects...

Really impressed with the cnc machining skills, looks very professional. I take it you are planning to use spur gears as you have called it a gearbox rather than an oil bath chain drive like the rotorway helicopters? I'm nearly ready to fly my own creation just machining the leading edge spars of the rotorblades. What are your plans regarding the blades? keep up the inspiring work!
@ultralighthelicopter3 жыл бұрын
Hy btd1982. thanks! Yes im using spur gears in the main gearbox housing. Im planning to build the rotorblades with a combination of aluminum and stainless steel. The outside skin with 0.5mm stainless steel but haven`t figured out jet how exactly i build it. How did you build your rotorblades? All the best for your first flight coming up!!
@Ben-Dixey3 жыл бұрын
@@ultralighthelicopter Thanks. sounds good. my blades I have used a 6082t6 leading edge spar machined to a naca0012 profile, I imported the 0012 coordinates into solidworks and had a milling cutter made to the profile. I have machined a recess to pop rivet the trailing 2024t3 skins at 0.82mm thick to the spar, I will also be using adhesive in addition to the rivets, then finally the trailing edge skins are going to be hard riveted. Stainless skins will work just as well and will be better for abrasion resistance just slightly heavier.

What kinda engine are you coupling to?
@ultralighthelicopter3 жыл бұрын
@tat2joeelliott im looking around and the most suited so far i found in max. weight of 40Kg and good power to weight ratio is Rotax 582 UL. What do you think, do you know some good engines in this weight class? Could be 4-stroke or turbine as well...

@@ultralighthelicopter I have no clue. I just figured since you were building a gear box you already had a motor in mind.
