God Complex: Quick look at Vexed stuff | Doom Mod

Hey all! I wanted to make a video because it's been a while since the last one and I felt you could all do with a lil update. I'm too busy and haven't had the time (or patience) to make a proper video talking about things, but I will definitely make a longer video and go into more detail on Vexed changes sometime soon. This video is just a small compilation of clips from when I was testing so you can see that I haven't disappeared again and am indeed still working on things. This video does not include all changes (Nem/Vexed Commando for example were heavily reworked (Nem LMG yay)), and some things in the video are still being worked on. I thought God Complex was nearly ready for release a few weeks ago but some comments didn't like the Vexed Bait item, so I decided to rework some of the Vexed monsters and how they spawn in, which is taking some time. I wanted to get God Complex done before some real life events started happening, but I didn't make it in time... I was rushing before, but since I didn't meet the deadline I set, I decided to just relax a bit and not rush things anymore. Thanks for reading! Hope you enjoy the video! UV this is tbe update i didnt know i needed, wow!! Congrats on the INSANE attention to details, i can only imagine how stressful it is to go over every little aspect of the gameplay in multiple iterations, and the fact that you’re still finding areas that can further improved is a testament of you commitment l. At this point I’d say pack it in a box and sell it like back in the 90’s, I’d buy that in an instant. Amazing work!

Have to say - that screaming skull shader when mobs transform into Vexed versions is so damn awesome!! I really can't wait to play this mod. Looks so polished and the gameplay looks and sounds more cohesive. Grats UV!! BTW, what's the intermediary music when a mob is transforming into its Vexed phase? It sounds so familiar? Edit - Ooohhh, it's the Elden Ring theme!!

I do not blame you lol. They were too insane before. I've slowed down a few of them and will probably go through all of them. If I end up making any much slower, I try to give them extra attacks to make up for it

So now fully defeating the Nemesis monster is no longer necessary, but taking away enough of their health in a timely fashion or with a True Rune is what invokes their Vexed form? AND it can be prevented if one can finish off the Nemesis monster fast enough? Interesting modifications.

If you have a True Leg Rune the Nemesis monster will attempt to transform when its low on health, and you can prevent it if you out damage its healing. I still need to do a full pass of them all to make sure the time to finish for all of them is similar. Killing them too fast isn't a thing anymore

While i really like the transformation, i think it is way too easy to kill the vexed monster while transforming. Perharps they should regen a bit faster?

I haven't balanced it yet. Just got it working on all the monsters. I'll get to it. Also it's not as easy to deal with when other monsters are around, or if you aren't ready for it

So, from what I can gather from the videos posted so far, you originally made the vexed beacon because the vexed enemies were too evasive and annoying to fight after every nemesis beyond a certain point, and you have now changed the vexed enemies to be less annoying so that they have the option of spawning naturally upon killing a nemesis again? If that is the case, then that's even more effort for me to look forward to when this mod releases

Looking great! At first, I thought that picking up and gibbing corpses with Gravity Force was just a silly little addition but I realized that it could be used to prevent archviles from resurrecting monsters. Is the HUD going to be included in this wad? I'm dying to have it because the default and alternate HUD for CF have good and bad points, but this one will finally present all the information you need without needless clutter or too little information.
