I had so much expectations from this drama based on the trailers but the actual drama was such a let down. I was literally fast forwarding through the drama to see when the plot will actually start. I was expecting murder - mystery and I kept being shown family drama and romantic scenes.

Honestly the plot for the company boss to ask FL who is a FINANCE DIRECTOR to check for the validity of the ML's existence is just ridiculous right from the get go! Won't the boss worry if the FL deliberately leaks the info when she isn't even the right-hand man... Couldn't he just get his trusted aide or even a private detective to do the job for something so personal... NO boss in the world would ever want their subordinates to know so much about their personal life! Worse is in the original novel, it is so much more interesting in terms of characters' multi-personality and their goal behind their actions. The ML was supposed to be a bad guy where he lure/PUA the FL who was less attractive in appearance/lower self-esteem to achieve his goal... Wonder if they could have done a better job in the adaptation if not for Covid... And yes I felt great pity for all the casted actors as well! A lot of them are really great actors including the supporting veteran actors and younger leading actors~

This is so true!!! Many of the times is a specific actor's crazy fans jacked up the unrealistic/inaccurate ratings... The productions companies get to save so much of their marketing fees thanks to this sort of fans doing all their work for free. I got so angry watching Luoyang in particular as well!

For 2 reasons I wanted to watch this drama. 1. Super interesting synopsis on Mdl, 2. Zhang Xin Cheng. After watching 4 episodes, reason number 1 is gone. Suspence murder drama!!? Where is the murder? Who is murdered? Where is the suspense? Will watch the rest of the drama for reason#2. That's it. Also I am confused about the Gao family and their relationships. What I understood is, there are 2 brother and 2 sister in gao family, who are the main owners of the company, property etc. Elder sis is dead and her husband is the dying old man, the chairman. And he wants to transfer his property to someone he trusts. But who are cheng cheng's parents? The old man and another woman? Then how come he is eligible for the Gao's inheritance.

I agree so much with you. I was expecting suspense and instead found something underwhelming and messy. I also didn't feel the chemistry between the leads, so I didn't even get that out of the show. Maybe I'll just go read the novel.

After watching 8 episodes, I just consider it as the events leading up the the the start of the original novel with significant changes to the family fighting for the inheritance. The events of the novel literally transpire over 2-3 days from the opening paragraph. Was Babel also filmed during COVID--the novel is quite different from the drama (only a few pages to go before I finish the book)?

Can maybe call it patiently waiting for a murder to finally happen in hotel kairoutei. The mystery part of the drama seems to begin in ep 9. Murder case has the usual holes and some unbelievable stuff.

I'm feeling so bad for Zhang Xincheng , this boy has so much potential and talent but somehow there's either no good script , direction or good coactress that could showcase his skill in full fledge. He imo one of the underdog that still didn't shine the way it should be & the thing is he is really trying from acting , choosing different scripts of genre so that he could show his acting versatility but still seems like no matter how good he is but at the end because of his surrounding things ( as I mentioned previously) things just didn't go on as expected. But still one good thing no one can question his acting skill , his hardwork. Hope he really got that work that could bring him the spotlight he deserves.

I have to say that the trailer did a splendid job at least, having me start this one with high hopes that ZXC could actually happen as a Serious Actor. He is such a charming presence, but I have yet to see him pull off something gritty. I agree though that this script doesn't serve him well AT ALL. Also I find FL hopelessly annoying 🙄. I gave up after two episodes. Does anyone have any recommendations for ZXC in something good that isn't romance or comedy?

They shouldn't have made this a drama. The original drama was a 2 hrs 1 episode drama and the novel was basically a short story... They put a lot of nonesense in the drama to fill up and make the episodes and turned a suspence into romance...

I tried to watch it, I am a fan of mysteries, murder and police crime thrillers; however, I could not even finish the first episode. It was a huge disappointment, after watching BE REBORN. I like them because they do not need a romance to carry the main story ... you can tell when they don't trust the story or actors when they add more romance and it goes down hill from there. If they want to do a romance, they should stick to that theme and not this one.

已弃此剧。情节让人一点不紧张、也完全不觉得有任何悬疑，特别没劲。音乐也做得一般。荒废了张新成的演技。不太喜欢女主的演技和剧中的气质。（想听您说四川话骂此剧～😊）
