In this video, we look at the life of Umar bin Abdul Aziz, he ruled for only 30 months but during this short period he changed the world. His tenure was the brightest period in the 92-year history of the Umayyads, He was the son of Abdul Aziz bin Al-Marwan, the governor of Egypt while his mother, Umm-i-Aasim was the granddaughter of Umar Ibn Al-Khattab [RA], he was very pious and averse to worldly luxuries. He preferred simplicity to extravagance. he even abandoned the royal palace and preferred to live in a modest house. He wore rough clothes instead of royal robes and often went unrecognized in public like his great grandfather Umar ibn Al-Khattab.

@@haithamaboriash1785 then you are really ignorant of the histroy brother.most of them were really bad..let me give you one example... you know a 17 years old umayyad general named as Mohammad bin Qasim who conquered sindh was brought to damascus and was executed just bc the caliph feared that he might challenge the authority of the caliph after the reputation he gained from the conquest...MBQ was a very pious and God fearing general..he was a good person..

@@haithamaboriash1785 the different conquests during the ummayad era was the result of the God fearing pious muslim generals and soldiers not bc of the ummayad caliphs....Allah granted victroy to the muslims just bc of them...while the administration was very oppressive...non arab muslims were also regarded as dhimmis...and not just that they didnt allow free speech to be practised in the caliphate...and they gave important government posts and favors to their close relatives and friends...

Its only an honorary title, he is not truly considered the fifth. The four are senior companions he is nothing compared to them at the end of the day, not even to Muwaiya ra. He is the best ruler after the sahaba but he is not near the sahaba in status. Sahaba have a special status given to them by Allah and his messenger. Abu Sa’id al-Khudri reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Do not insult my companions. If one of you were to spend the likes of mount Uhud in gold, it would not reach a small portion of theirs or even half of that.” Source: Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 3673, Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2540
