After spending an entire year making over my LA apartment, I had to tear my baby to shreds and reset my apartment to its original state in the last few days before I moved to NYC. Watch me remove my wallpaper, peel off the contact paper on my kitchen counters, remove hooks and nails and hanging plants, fill holes with drywall spackle, and paint over any marks with matching paint. Hey girl! You mentioned in one of your recent NYC apartment tour videos that a man at 3 am keeps knocking on your door. My advice to you is that you should be extremely cautious. I'm not trying to scare you but he definitely knows that you are a young woman living on your own and that you are alone in there. 3 am is also a time when he could be horny or feeling like he wants to come into your place. He knows where you live. I would notify your landlord or even authorities if this continues because you do not know what his intentions are, however, if he is doing this every night or very often, he could be waiting for an opportunity to hurt or harm you (sexually, physically). Please be careful. I had a similar situation - don't let him find out any patterns when you leave your apartment. Leave at different times if you can, so he cannot figure out the pattern. Hope that I'm not scaring you. Losing sleep over a man like this sounds very detrimental to your health and having to be by the door with a knife sounds like he is a threat waiting to happen.This is coming from a good place

Tip: Use a blowdryer to warm up the contact paper when removing it. It'll soften the plastic (making it flexible instead of breakable, that way you won't have to remove it in baby sections as much) and the glue (making it easier to clean/less scraping needed)

Next time you'll try to take off a contact paper, heat it with a hair dryer everytime before you try to peel it. It becomes waaaaaaay easier and it saves you tons of time and effort! Also, when you wanna put a new sticker somewhere mostly in a surface that is very smooth, not like a wall but like murble, a glossy cabinet or metal etc., I found out that if you spray the sticky side with water, you can place it much easier and work any bubbles out (there will not be many with this method) or move it a little, before it totally dries and sticks for good. (I did a full huge room with sticker for wallpaper (on metal walls) and this was very very helpful for me). Also, you are amazing! xx

I'm trapped in China because of Coronavirus and had to have someone move me out of my first "adult" apartment in Chicago without saying goodbye. It was the first apartment I took a lot of time and effort to decorate, and I didn't know before that I could feel so attached to an apartment. My mom had that same desk, along with an entire bedroom set that went with it. She had it as a teen in the 70's, and various pieces were used in my house growing up. My parents got rid of all the pieces when they downsized after all of us kids moved out. I know several other people that had the same set as well, and I am hoping that one day I will be able to find some pieces while thrift shopping!
